A dead dog found floating canal in Birmingham is being treated as suspicious. The RSPCA is appealing to the public to help find out how the dog came to be lying in the water near the bridge at Wharf Road in Kings Norton on Sunday.

More people are renting privately in Birmingham than a decade ago, the latest figures from the 2021 census of England and Wales shows. As of March 2011, 17.9% of households were private renters - increasing to 22.6% in the census of March 2021 - accounting for 5 million people.

BBC Radio 6 Music is set to celebrate 10 years of Independent Venue Week in Birmingham. The city is one of five places being visited on the tour - an annual seven-day celebration of independent music and arts venues and the people that own, run and work in them.
