00:00What's really clear to us is that the energy market isn't working for people.
00:04And whether that's sky-high energy bills, or it's the fact that we've seen suppliers going bust,
00:09or one too many examples of poor customer service,
00:13there has been a big dent in trust in the energy market.
00:16We've got to restore that trust.
00:17And for me, a big part of that is the regulator,
00:20and making sure that the regulator has the right mandate, the remit, the powers,
00:25to stand up for consumers, to make sure that the market is working properly,
00:29and to make sure that people are getting a fair deal.
00:31So that alongside things that we're doing to drive down energy bills with our clean power mission,
00:36upgrade homes so they're warm and cheaper to run,
00:38we're giving people confidence that the market is working for them.
00:41The energy market has changed massively,
00:44and the regulator was set up at a time when we had a very different energy market than we do now.
00:49So we've got to make sure that it is equipped to do the job of championing consumers,
00:53but also to do the job of making sure that the energy industry delivers
00:58the transition to clean power that we need it to do by 2030,
01:02but it's doing it in a way that is fair, and that people are getting a fair deal,
01:06and that when things go wrong, they're put right, and people are getting compensated.
