00:00The record plant journey began about 18 months ago, we opened our first shop just opposite here

00:10and it was a collective of four of us that kind of came together deciding we wanted to do something

00:17and one of the other owners also pat on the old woollen next door to us and was quite keen to

00:25you know open a record shop and I think kind of feeling was that it would work around here

00:30and my background was in new record shops and I've had shops before so it was kind of

00:36everything kind of came together quite quickly and we opened in October 2023, rapidly outgrew

00:42the unit there and we're very fortunate to get a bigger premises which we moved in at the end

00:48of September this year so yeah it's been an interesting journey. What do you love about

00:53running your own business and what keeps you going every day? What keeps me going every day,

00:58I mean even though it's something I've done for a long time you still never know what's

01:03going to happen, we do a lot of buying second-hand records from the public so anything could come

01:09through the doors which can be quite exciting, also I like the you know the fact that you're

01:13selling things that people enjoy and I like seeing the public get something they've been

01:18after for a long time, running your own business it's the the advantages of not really only

01:25answering to yourself but I kind of always have had that mentality that you know I'm it's not

01:31just me working for myself I'm you know I've you know I do feel like you know you're employed by

01:36the business so it isn't like where you can come in late you know it's quite time consuming and

01:42you're doing a lot of things at home or working on weekends and you know you know it can you know

01:48it does not necessarily take over your life but it's almost like a vocation really having your

01:53own business. And what's the biggest challenges? Just I guess suppliers and you know and making

02:02sure that stock's in, quite often you can have issues with you can have issues with

02:08things turning up damaged which is totally out of your control and when you've been waiting all

02:14week for them to come that can that can be frustrating but I guess you know you know

02:18they're only kind of minor details and mostly our customers kind of understand when those things

02:23come up and generally products availability especially at this time of year you know

02:29certain big titles can go out of stock and you hate thinking that you're gonna have to let people

02:33down for Christmas presents or what have you so yeah just just those kind of things same as same

02:38as anybody I suppose.
