00:00Let's get to the very latest in Louisiana, no stranger to betting.
00:07Maybe going online here for potential casino gaming in Louisiana.
00:11How quickly can this get done, Pat?
00:13What are the odds on that?
00:15You know, I'm not quite sure.
00:17I think the odds are maybe a little better than some people are putting on to happen,
00:21to get done in 2025.
00:24Earlier this year, they passed a Senate study bill to say, hey, let's look at this.
00:29Let's dig into this and see what this could mean for the state.
00:32And then, yeah, last week there was a nice hearing about it.
00:35A lot of industry people sat down and testified to the Senate about what it can be, what it
00:41could do for the state.
00:44There were a couple senators who said, hey, we're missing out on a huge chunk of revenue.
00:49I think they cited $4.6 billion in illegal wagers every year online.
00:55So that could be a huge chunk to capture.
00:59And to your point, they have a vibrant casino, brick and mortar casino ecosystem, and that
01:05generally bodes well for states like Pennsylvania and Michigan here that we've had iCasino now
01:12for a couple of years.
01:14And of course, there were the negatives.
01:16Just like we saw in Maryland earlier this year, the Cordish companies came out and said,
01:20we really don't want this.
01:21We will participate if it does legalize, but we think it's a net negative for the brick
01:26and mortar industry, which of course concerns some of the legislators in Louisiana.
01:32So that's there.
01:33Of course, you had lots of problem gambling people coming out.
01:35And Chris Hebert, the director of the Louisiana Gaming Commission, was like, yeah, this is
01:41an issue of regulation or unregulation, but we realize it is an issue to put casinos easily
01:46accessible in people's pockets.
01:49And so that is something that even the top regulator in the state is thinking about.
01:54It's going to be, again, I wouldn't put it as a will pass, but they'll definitely be
02:00talking about it.
02:01They will definitely kind of consider the pluses and negatives.
02:05We'll probably be talking about this quite a bit next year, Craig.
02:09Will it pass?
02:10I don't know.
02:11I'll put it at like 40-60 at the moment.
