00:00The Philippine Economic Zone Authority, or PESA, highlighted the role of ecozones in driving economic development,
00:07particularly in wealthier local government units, with nine of the top 10 richest LGUs hosting PESA zones.
00:15Based on Philippine News Agency's report, PESA Director-General Tereso Panga emphasized the direct correlation
00:25between hosting ecozones and higher levels of development, suggesting that ecozones can drive growth beyond Metro Manila.
00:34He also noted the inclusion of ecozones in the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028 promotes industrial expansion in rural areas.
00:44Between 2023 and 2024, President Ferdinand Marquez, Jr. approved the establishment of 27 new ecozones,
00:53including manufacturing ecozones and IT parks, with total investments of Php 9.18 billion.
01:02Notable projects include Robinson Cyber Park in Bacolod, PhilChris Central IT Park in Davao, and various expansions of existing ecozones.
