Così, Andrea Di Paolo, Corporate & Regulatory Affairs Director BAT Italia e Presidente BAT Trieste.

00:00In my opinion, the key points of BAT are the three factors, which are innovation, technology, sustainability and people.
00:17In Trieste, because of these factors, we found all the ingredients we needed to make this investment in the area and stay in the area, without having to look for universities, research centers and so on.
00:37So here we have everything we need to create an ecosystem and above all for our concept of share value, that is, to give value to the territory.
00:50We are very present on the territory, we sponsor many realities of the territory, many important events.
00:56When we have to do something, we are always available because the territory has always welcomed us very well from the first day.
01:03This investment, this productive hub, was made with a public-private synergy, a truly innovative formula that led to the creation of a productive hub from a greenfield in just 12 months.
01:20And in 18 months we were even able to inaugurate because we had completed the entire construction.
01:26Our projects are, first of all, sustainability projects.
01:31We started in 2020 working on sustainability, but combining technology and innovation with innovative start-ups that used artificial intelligence and satellites.
01:43The first project is called Piccoli e gesti di grandi crimini and we have been doing it since 2020.
01:49It is a campaign to raise awareness on smokers and not to throw cicadas on the ground.
01:55With this start-up we are going to measure and count the cicadas that are on the ground before the campaign and after the campaign.
02:03In four years, having implemented this campaign in more than 15 cities, the average decrease between pre-campaign and post-campaign is about 60% of cicadas less.
02:14Recently, we inaugurated the G7 of the Syracuse Agriculture, WePlant, which is also a project that, thanks to technology, is able to monitor individual tobacco plants and warn tobacco growers with an app when the plant needs water, fertilizer or pesticides.
02:35We started many years ago a journey of transformation, leaving behind products with combustion and investing in a very serious way.
02:45Today we invest about 350 million pounds every year in research and development on new generation products at reduced risk.
02:52We, as a company, say that it is better not to start smoking, if you smoke it is better to stop, but people who are aware of the risks, well informed and who do not want to stop, why not offer products at reduced risk, to protect our consumers and their health.
