The Johor Baru Sessions Court has ordered a former Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency Tanjung Sedili maritime zone director to enter his defence for accepting RM10,000 in bribes back in 2020.

Judge Ahmad Kamal Arifin Ismail made the decision after the prosecution successfully proved a prima facie against 43-year-old Mohd Zulfadli Nayan on Wednesday (Dec 18).

00:22a prima facie against 43-year-old Mohamad Zulfadli Nayan on Wednesday.
00:27The accused's lawyer, Mohamad Fazali Ali Mohamad Ghazali, said they would be calling
00:32seven to eight witnesses for their defence in the case.
00:35The court set defence proceedings for seven days, starting on January 8 next year.
00:41Judge Ahmad Kamal also ordered that the accused's bail be extended until the date of the proceedings.
00:47Based on the charge sheet, Mohamad Zulfadli allegedly received a bribe amounting to 10,000
00:53from Wan Mohamad Fauzi Wan Kamaruddin, the owner of a shipping company, on October 2, 2020.
01:00Mohamad Zulfadli was also accused of using his position at that time to not take action
01:06in the investigation of a vessel owned by the company that was detained by Tanjung Sedili
01:12MMEA on September 17, 2020.
01:16He was charged under Section 165 of the Penal Code, which carries a prison sentence of up
01:21to two years, or a fine or both if convicted.
