00:00Jordan something bizarre happened to him last night he came into the studio this morning to tell us
00:04we were like you've got to tell the rest of the UK this story because it's mad.
00:08I don't want to look like I'm boasting but I'm going to play in the music for you at the right
00:12moments okay because I do think there needs to be a bit of added drama to this. I go for a run
00:16and I run in London just past where Fulham play football so right on River Thames and I'm running
00:22and there's this woman who's looking a bit distressed and there's loads of people like
00:27looking over the edge there's a dog struggling in the water okay so there's like and it's really
00:33low down and there's this dog that's like basically drowning and I took my headphones
00:38out I was like oh what's going on here and it's like there's a dog down there struggling.
00:44So what happens next? There's a jetty but it's shut and it's like a six-foot gate right so there's
00:49this lad trying to climb over and he's going oh my knee my knee he's younger than me I thought
00:54he's not that bad so I climb over right I go down to the jetty it's pitch black
00:59and the dog's in the water. What so he can't swim? The dog's struggling right. Because there's like
01:04undercurrents isn't there that drags you down. The tide was so strong so I'm trying to grab the dog
01:08at the end of the jetty I'm on there on my own I've got my phone flashing I'm going hey boy hey boy
01:12hey boy hey boy. Great choice. So I'm like clapping going hey hey boy come on come on come on and he's
01:19trying to get to me this dog right and he's every time I can just about grab him the current's
01:24taking him. I cannot go in because there's no chance of getting out. It's so dangerous you
01:28should never go in. So this is Beyonce what did he call it? Oh what? Beyonce what did he call it?
01:37What? Yeah it's like it's buoyancy things it's not very big so I'm like walking across that like a
01:41bit of a tightrope. I have no idea what you mean now what's some sort of pontoon? Yeah like a
01:46pontoon yeah. Right right right. It's very narrow so I walk across it I manage to grab the dog okay
01:53and I'm get him up and pull him up by the collar and then he's he's struggling and then he falls
01:59back in so I get him. But you've got him you're holding him by the hand almost like as if you're
02:03on a plank in the middle of the water. Yeah yeah okay okay and the dog's panting and crying and
02:08I've managed to pull him up. What kind of dog is it? A Labrador. The dog's legs have gone so he
02:12can't get up. Because he's so tired? He's been fighting this current for about 10 minutes I think
02:16he'd been in there. He's panting and he's kind of going it's all right it's all right so then we
02:20can't get off this thing that I'm floating on in the middle of the Thames. Unbelievable this.
02:27My legs going dead and everybody's watching from the side. So now there's a crowd? There's a dog
02:31on me and I'm worried that my legs are gonna go dead and I fall in I went can you call the coast
02:35guard please? Coast guard couldn't find us so everybody it was a beautiful sight they all put
02:42the lights on the phones. Stop it the torch is on. It was like was it a Coldplay gig?
02:47Wait is the coast guard going is anybody out there? And you're going help help check the phone and the dog.
02:55But you're waiting there then until the where's the RNLI? Yeah so they come out but they couldn't
03:01get the boat round to this bit I'm floating on so they send another little smaller boat and the
03:06dog's scared and won't move because he's worried about going in so I'm trying to push
03:10push the dog in finally get the dog in a little boat then I'm stuck so I've got to like balance
03:15and get back on the big boat if this is making any sense at all and I get on and the woman goes
03:21oh my god oh my god I'm like what what what is it unsafe what what's happened she said oh no I'm a
03:26G and D I listen to podcasts all the time. You did it, you saved the day.
03:33Jordan North. Well done Jordan. You saved the dog. You could talk about this because what an amazing
03:42thing to do. It's very brave of you actually. It's very brave. It wasn't it I was I didn't go in I was
03:46just on a jetty and I grabbed it and stuff so. Oh you're playing it cool now? Oh it wasn't it
03:51the real heroes here are the coast guard the RNLI who came out and got me put a blanket around me
03:57and yeah. Is it like that scene in the Inbetweeners? Did you have sort of like a foil blanket? Yeah
04:02they're the heroes do you know who the baddies are? Go on. Fulham Football Club. Why? So I was
04:08that wet I had to walk home I went into Fulham Football Club's shop yeah I thought I'm gonna
04:12have to buy a coat so I thought just because I'm freezing I'm wet through hundred and odd pound
04:17so I'm not paying that for it. Walked home wet through. Probably for the best as a Burnley fan
04:22walking home in a Fulham coat. Oh yeah. Look at the messages we're getting in what a hero.
04:26No it's not. You're a hero Jordan. No no it's not. Oh my gosh. It was it was I'm not just saying it
04:31to sound like disingenuity I just pulled the dog in off the jetty and got stuck. Don't worry about
04:35any of the other awards we could win as a show now. A Pride of Britain's on the cards everyone.
04:40Yeah MBE. MBE what a shout. Yeah he should. You know the weirdest thing is
04:46Ash who makes our jingles. Yeah Ash Bard. Yeah text me and went my mates just rescued you on a
04:51boat. Well because he volunteers for him don't he? Are they all volunteers? Yeah. I didn't know that.
04:56That's amazing. He went my mates just uh rescued you.
05:10you
