00:00The first typhoon that hit the Philippines this December is called Typhoon Kirubin.

00:05We will keep you updated on this, especially for our countrymen who are planning to travel for Christmas and New Year.

00:20Good afternoon, Ma'am, and to our countrymen as well.

00:24Typhoon Kirubin was last seen at a distance of 195 km east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.

00:30The wind was strong, reaching 45 km per hour near the center and gusting at 65 km per hour.

00:37It was blowing from east to west at a speed of 10 km per hour.

00:42Even so, the first signal was still high in Surigao del Sur.

00:46But based on our forecast, it is possible that in the next 12 to 24 hours, it will become a LPA.

00:55Even so, even if it is just a LPA, it will still bring heavy rains, especially in the western part of the Visayas and other parts of the Bicol region,

01:04if we continue to take care of our countrymen because of possible flash floods and landslides.

01:10So that's the latest news about Typhoon Kirubin from the Weather Forecasting Section.

01:16We have a question. Based on the forecast track, it seems that the direction of the typhoon is not yet normal.

01:23Is there a weather system that is affecting this area and can it change its direction and landfall?

01:31Yes, because it is a tropical depression, it is a low-category typhoon.

01:38So it is not that strong.

01:41If we notice, its track also has a high level of uncertainty.

01:46So its track is also not that certain.

01:51Although, as of now, there is no other weather system that is affecting its track so far.

02:00What are the areas that are particularly affected by heavy rains now?

02:06Now, we are expecting that the Bicol region, the eastern Visayas, and other parts of Mindanao,

02:12especially the eastern section of Mindanao,

02:14may experience heavy rains due to the effects of the shear line and the tropical depression, Kirubin.

02:24For our countrymen in Maynegros Island, we will ask for updates on the weather, especially since they are now alert in Lahar.

02:35Yes, actually, in the entire Visayas, we are expecting that it will be cloudy.

02:43Light and moderate rains are possible.

02:45So, our advice is to be very careful because the situation is very dangerous, especially in possible Lahar.
