00:00We were told before we went to be very aware of the possibility of being watched,

00:04of being spied on, of being filmed, of being recorded, all the rest of it,

00:07but also of having our phones tapped.

00:10And as we landed in Beijing, we were given burner phones

00:14with the numbers that we needed for that trip in them.

00:17And we were told by, I guess, someone in the security services,

00:22whose face I don't think I'll ever see again,

00:24who said,

00:26this phone is fully charged.

00:29When you walk off this plane and down the red carpet and into the car

00:32at Beijing airport, your phone will go from 100% to 50% battery.

00:38And that's how you know you've been hacked.

00:41So we walked off the plane,

00:43walked down the steps,

00:45got in the car,

00:48and the battery was at 50%.

00:50Oh, wow.

00:51And I mean, of course the Chinese are spying on us.
