00:00I feel that whenever you sing for a film you definitely are bound by the story, the character,
00:13you have to keep everything in mind, it's not just singing a song, it's about taking
00:18the story forward through your singing, through your rendition, through your emotions and
00:23I take that very very seriously, like I said I have a very technical process and for me
00:29knowing about the character, knowing about the story of the film is very important when
00:34I am recording for a film because ultimately you are used as a tool to narrate a specific
00:40story, an emotion.
00:42So I think it is part of your job, I don't find it challenging whereas I find it very
00:49very interesting.
00:51Devotional song?
00:58I would say Anuradha Polwal ji, I have grown up listening to her aarti's, her bhajans
01:03and I feel that her voice sounds very very pure.
01:12I feel that it's a beautiful time for us as Indians, I think that this year has been
01:18very special, it started with a very high point religiously, spiritually I would say
01:24and I think the younger generation is getting closer than ever to our roots, to our faith,
01:32to our culture and I feel it's very important for a human being to hold on to something,
01:37maybe values, your faith, your culture, your traditions because otherwise we are lost.
01:48I would like to say that it's a part of every profession, I think everyone retires and unfortunately
01:57the professionals who are associated with the film industry, their retirement period
02:04is not specific, at least it's not decided specifically, so you don't even know when
02:10you retired.
02:11If you were doing a job, you would know that it's your retirement, so that mental conflict
02:15I think is there with people because you don't have a definite time period to work till,
02:23the longer the better.
02:24But when I was very young, I used to see a lot of legends going through such a period,
02:30I feel that, I would like to say this to the younger generation because I have personally
02:35worked on it, the success in any field, there are perceptions of success, but I would say
02:41worldly success, it comes for a period, you should definitely not let it define your life,
02:48you should definitely have a purpose beyond your work in your life, education is very
02:53important so that when you retire in the future, when you don't have a song, as a male, as
02:59a female, you can do something else and don't get depressed, so I feel it's very important to be practical.
03:05I think this has been happening since a very long time, maybe people have gotten to know
03:14about this now, although with me, I would not like to sound pompous, but it has never
03:21happened with me that I have ever tried a song and it was sung by other singers and
03:28then they got that song, I have been lucky that music directors call me for those songs
03:33when they feel that my voice will suit, but I wouldn't deny that it happens that there are a lot of music composers
03:40who make people sing a song, I wouldn't like to take it negatively, I think whoever performs
03:46in the best possible way, gets that song, so it's in a way, I think it's competitive, but I wouldn't call it unfair.
03:55When I started singing, I wanted to dedicate my singing to a purpose, because it is a God's gift for me,
04:11no one in my family used to sing, so when I realized that I can use singing for a good cause,
04:21I can save someone's life, so I felt very, very powerful and then I tried to materialize it in action,
04:30then when the first child had surgery through my concert, then seven more children came in need,
04:37six of whom had a hole in their heart, who needed heart surgery, and then by doing shows like this,
04:44my life became a mission for those children, now I have a foundation also, through which I help heart patients,
04:51get their surgeries done, the figure of 3000 has been crossed, although it took a lot of years,
04:56but now it is a very long journey, because the waiting list is always increasing, last year I thought that
05:02maybe this year the waiting list will end, but still at the end of the year I have 421 more children,
05:08who need surgery, so I am very happy that those children can reach me, I can help them.
05:21No brainer, I would like to dedicate it to my husband, why? Because I relate to the lyrics a lot,
05:27this romantic song, it is a very dignified song, it is written in a very respectful way by Saeed ji,
05:35this is how I feel for my husband.
05:42Mithun ji is the ultimate perfectionist.
05:51First of all, I would like to say a big thank you to my fans, Palkins is what you call yourself,
05:57all Palkins are very close to my heart, I consider myself very grateful that you give me such a special place in your hearts,
06:05thank you so much for giving me so much love.
06:15I don't believe in New Year resolutions, I think resolutions are of every day,
06:21I also believe in actions, so I don't think that it should be like this or that, I just make a plan for every minute,
06:31I just want everyone to be happy in the coming year, everyone to be healthy and peaceful.
