00:00I love the gimbal. I love the whole thing. I know the whole way this thing works.
00:04Other than yourself and Justin Timberlake, who's on your Spotify rap this year? Who's your top artist?
00:09Taylor Swift was my top artist. I am a Swifty. I'm a fan of hers since day one. I love her.
00:16It was Taylor Swift. It was, oh gosh, was it Chaperone?
00:21Nice.
00:22And then it got to like, I want to say, Carpenters?
00:27Sabrina Carpenter?
00:28No. The Carpenters, yeah. I mean, it took a real curve on my playlist, yeah.
00:34You showed my age. I let my daughters use my Spotify as well, so you can see where dad kind of hopped in.
00:40And then the Beatles and then Paul McCartney and John Lennon, yeah.
00:43But it's a good mix and it's an honest mix. I didn't make it up.
00:47Yeah, I'm walking around with this. I know it's a little much, but when you get a plaque, a framed record,
00:53saying that you went number one, you have to enjoy it.
00:55It's amazing.
00:56I didn't know I was getting this. It surprised me with this tonight.
00:59And I didn't, I never thought any of this would ever happen.
01:03I wanted to write a comedy album and I just want to make people laugh.
01:06I grew up listening to Weird Al Yankovic and Dr. Demento and all weird comedy songs.
01:11So I wanted to make an album.
01:12And now I'm just thinking about all little kids out there that are hearing how much fun you can have
01:18and be weird and be creative and write stuff and don't write what anyone thinks.
01:23AI could not write this. I'll tell you that. This is too weird.
01:26AI would tell you not to write this, in fact.
01:28So that's what I'm proud of.
01:30I really spent a lot of time and work on this and I'm so proud of it.
01:33And thanks for anyone to listen to it. I really, I'm very, very grateful.
01:37I love it. Congratulations.
01:38And this one we're looking at right here is with the Jonas Brothers.
01:41But do you have a favorite collaboration from the album?
01:43I mean, the one with the Jonas Brothers are great.
01:45I will say I did a song with Justin Timberlake, who's my brother.
01:49It's called You'll Be There.
01:50And it's kind of a bromance song about getting together for the holidays
01:54and I'm going to miss him. And where are you this year?
01:56And hopefully he'll be there for me this year.
01:58I know he has his family and his kids and stuff, but I want to hang out with him.
02:02And then he surprises me in the song and he shows up.
02:05It's a Christmas miracle.
02:07That's so sweet.
02:08I was going to say you guys have one of the best bromances of all time.
02:10Like what does the Justin Timberlake, Jimmy Fallon text chain look like?
02:14It's a lot of dad stuff.
02:16But honestly, he's a pro.
02:18And to actually work with him and actually work with your friends.
02:21Do you ever think like, oh, I know my friends have jobs,
02:23but they don't really, I don't know what they really do.
02:25But then you go see your friend at work or do something,
02:27you go, oh my gosh, you're really good.
02:29I recorded with Justin and my mind was blown.
02:32He's talented beyond belief.
02:34And the amount of work that goes into everything he does,
02:37he'll put a harmony on one side of the track,
02:39another harmony on the other side, harmonize with himself.
02:42At one point I just sat back and was watching him like,
02:44all right, I don't think he needs me at all.
02:46But we were recording for like five hours, like two in the morning,
02:49making each other laugh.
02:50He's the best and I love him and I thank him for doing the album.
02:53So I have to ask about SNL because it's the 50th season.
02:56When looking back, do you have a character or a skit or a sketch
03:00that really sticks out with you as your favorite?
03:02I was just lucky enough.
03:03I had a great cast that I worked with.
03:05Everyone was so nice to me.
03:06I remember Anna Gasteyer being super nice when I first got there.
03:09And she was like, hey, you're new, right?
03:11Let me show you where your office is.
03:13And I was like, oh my gosh, Anna Gasteyer.
03:15But she was so nice to me.
03:16And Molly Shannon.
03:18Everyone was just the best.
03:19And I really walked into a great cast.
03:22Tracy Morgan, Chris Kattan, Will Ferrell, Tina Fey
03:26was a writer at the time.
03:27And she would just write great sketches for me.
03:30And then I watched her kind of grow up
03:32and then audition for Weekend Update
03:34and then just take over the world.
03:36It was kind of fun to watch that type of stuff.
03:38And, you know, SNL, Lorne Michaels, they're just my family.
03:42I'm lucky to be in that building for more than half my life.
03:45That's crazy.
03:46Crazy, right?
03:47Yeah.
03:48My last question for you.
03:49What is your top tip for making people laugh?
03:51Oh my gosh.
03:52Try anything.
03:53Just keep going.
03:54And try anything.
03:55And release ridiculous songs and comedy albums.
03:57Just keep being weird.
03:58Awesome.
