00:00The UP Fighting Maroons bagged championships in Game 3 of the UAAP Season 87 Finals

00:06after defeating the De La Salle Green Archers at the Araneta Coliseum last night.

00:11Here is the report from Jamai Cabayaca.

00:16The UAAP men's basketball crown returns to the liman after the UP Fighting Maroons

00:22destroyed the defending champion, De La Salle University, in Game 3 of their championship series.

00:28The game went down to the wire as De La Salle managed to reduce UP's 14-point lead,

00:34but the UP Fighting Maroons secured again, 66-62.

00:39The power forward, Quentin Nojora Brown, led the Fighting Maroons with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

00:45You know, so few people can say that they ended their season on a win and,

00:49you know, it's just something that I'll always look back at and smile.

00:52Meanwhile, the graduating guard, JD Cagulangan, grabbed the finals MVP title.

00:58Cagulangan averaged 13.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.7 assists,

01:041.3 steals, and 0.7 blocks throughout the series.

01:22In front of a record-breaking, rejoicing crowd of 25,248, Francis Lopez completed his redemption

01:34arc. He was criticized for the Fighting Maroons' loss in Game 2. Lopez erased the criticism after

01:40hitting the crucial three-pointer in the last minute and 12 seconds of the game.

01:45It was a huge loss, especially for me, you know. I let the team down on that game and

01:51you know, that didn't stop me to work still, work on my shot, work on my confidence, you know,

01:56on my confidence and, you know, I'm just really happy. It's a surreal feeling. This is my,

02:01actually, like, this is my first time officially to win a championship in my entire life.
