00:00It gives me great pleasure, on behalf of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, to declare
00:07today Jude Law Day in Hollywood!
00:16Take it away, Mr. Law!
00:19Thank you so much.
00:24Wow.
00:25Wow!
00:26First of all, thank you all for attending.
00:33Your presence makes this delightful honor a really special occasion, so I appreciate
00:40it.
00:42I'd like to thank Steve and Sarah from the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and Disney for
00:49supporting this event, and my dear friends David and Journey for your beautiful and kind
00:57words.
01:03You can't act on your own, unlike playing an instrument or writing or painting.
01:12You can't act alone.
01:14It's a frustrating side of the job, but the need to collaborate is very much at the heart
01:24of the medium's biggest reward.
01:28Some of you here, and many, many others that I've collaborated with over 30 years, people
01:35who I've learned from and been encouraged by, guided by, inspired by, they're the reason
01:43I have this star, and I want to thank them all.
01:50The collaboration starts at home, and I've been very, very lucky to have had a family
01:56around me that have lived with and supported my passion for acting and filmmaking.
02:04Some of those members of my lovely family are here today, and they know what they mean
02:08to me.
02:09I love them so much.
02:11I had a mother who showed me the great silent movies and the comedies and musicals and dramas
02:21of the Hollywood Golden Era, American New Wave, foreign movies, and I had a dad who
02:31took me in the 70s and 80s to blockbuster movies, where we ate our body weight in popcorn
02:38and chocolate, and so to have a place here amongst the talent that I grew up watching
02:47in all those films is both sublime and ridiculous.
02:52I want to thank everyone for coming, for making this such a special day for me.
02:56I really appreciate it.
