00:59We laugh about it often, but the truth is, is she is incredibly kind and giving and powerful

01:09As I look at the roles that she has taken on from For Colored Girls to all of the things
01:13I would mention, she ... Ratchet ass.
01:22She approaches it with heart.
01:26She approaches it understanding that she's not just acting, but she's representing the

01:34With that, with that kind of love, with that kind of attention, she approaches every detail.
01:39I had a chance to spend some time ... I just forget these cards.
01:42I had a chance to spend some time with her and her family on vacation.
01:46I watched how much she loved and honored her parents.
01:50I watched how much she loved and honored her husband and her children, how she fiercely
01:55protects their privacy.
01:58This made me laugh because we were walking back to the room and all of my family, her

02:05Because she embodies these characters so much, when she was pregnant with her daughter, she

02:13As she was walking back to the room, the baby's walking in front of us with her diaper on.
02:17I'm looking at her and I'm like, I said, Carrie, she's walking like Olivia Pope.
02:22She's got the whole walk down all the way to the room.

02:31With that said, as I think about the life that she's lived as an activist, as a woman,
