00:00that. The Philadelphia Eagles
00:07nine straight wins. We'll take
00:08that. Passing game needs to get
00:09in gear. Understandably. But I
00:11feel like Dave from a Pittsburgh
00:12perspective. I'm like a a flat
00:15a card carrying fan of the
00:17Steelers because I felt like at
00:19this network and outside of you
00:21had to go toe to toe with the
00:22Joe Leases and the Kevin
00:23Walsh's where they were beating
00:24me over the head telling me I
00:26was a fool for saying
00:28absolutely Russell Wilson
00:29because Justin Fields has them
00:30out to a lead early in the
00:31season. Like I feel like I get
00:33vindicated every single week
00:35because my thought process
00:36always was. I thought to start
00:38the season it should have an
00:39open competition. Mike Tomlin
00:40told you no. Like Fields is
00:42fine. He's good. Okay. The
00:43minute Russ can play he's going
00:44to play. Thought it was
00:45interesting. But when I saw the
00:47eligibility of the Steelers
00:48going like there's two choices
00:50you can make Dave. Mike Tomlin
00:51we know wants to win football
00:52games first and foremost.
00:53That's a job as a head coach.
00:55But I thought for the first
00:56time Tomlin could have said you
00:57know what we're winning games
00:58that's all I care about and
00:59we'll wait. And he goes no. I
01:01want to do bigger things than
01:02win football games here. The
01:03Pittsburgh Steelers aren't
01:04about me going over 500. This
01:06is a unit and a team and an
01:08organization Dave that's used
01:09to winning Super Bowls and
01:10winning at the highest level.
01:12I'll roll the dice a little bit.
01:13Russ gives us more of a passing
01:14game. Let's watch it play out.
01:16And I've loved what I've seen
01:17out of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
01:19It's unbelievable. And I think
01:21we have to you know my approach
01:24as a Steeler fan but then even
01:26as a guy who is an odds maker
01:29and spent time in the books was
01:30wait we have to wait and see.
01:32And at the beginning of the
01:33season Russ wasn't physically
01:35able to perform the job. So you
01:38go OK let's see what fields can
01:40do. And for the first time in a
01:43while maybe we got some
01:45stability as the offensive
01:48coordinator. Everybody more on
01:50the same team. And instead of
01:52trying to force an offense onto
01:55somebody I mean you're you know
01:57former football player in the
01:58room on the wide receiver. You
02:00got to block every play and
02:02they know you could catch the
02:04ball but they don't want to
02:05throw you the ball you're going
02:06to be like hey you know what can
02:07we pass it once in a while.
02:09Well guess what. This is what
02:11we're going to do because this
02:12is what Justin Fields does best.
02:14So let's work the offense
02:15around. But no one in the back
02:18in the back pocket over here we
02:19got Russell Wilson working out
02:21practice and getting the reps
02:23building rapport with the team
02:25and Russ is a team guy. I mean
02:27apparently you know there has
02:29been a lot of what he went
02:30through in Denver was painted as
02:32a certain thing and maybe it
02:33didn't end great in Seattle but
02:35he's been nothing but danger
02:37Russ in Pittsburgh and they love
02:40him. And you can tell the guys
02:42play with him not in spite of
02:45him. And Tom did it again. I
02:48mean he just somehow there's
02:50another metamorphosis. He's done
02:52it in the past with guys. You
02:55know when Roethlisberger was
02:56hurt it was Tommy Maddox step
02:58up and then find a way to win
03:00games with Mitchell Trubisky and
03:03they did it. And now I really
03:06feel like everybody's playing.
03:08We get pickings. He's growing up
03:11in front of our eyes every week
03:13and there's things happening.
03:15But you know the saying the
03:17standard is the standard.
03:22The standard.
