00:00The commander-in-chief joined police officers and local chief executives for a session of the National Peace and Order Council
00:08in which the latest crime statistics, status of ongoing investigation, among others, were high on the agenda.
00:15And yes, no loyalty check needed given the tasted understanding between the commander-in-chief of the COP's loyalty to the Constitution and its duly elected authorities.
00:27PTV's Raya Leziguez has more.
00:31There's no need for loyalty check.
00:33We keep on telling that because, you know, on the part of the PNP as well as the AFP,
00:38we remain loyal to the Constitution and we know our mandate, we know our limitation,
00:44and we will not lose our focus because of some political noise.
00:50This is not a loyalty check.
00:51The Philippine National Police, or PNP, firmly denied a loyalty check took place during President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s meeting this morning
00:59with PNP officials and local chief executives in Camp Krame.
01:02According to PNP spokesperson, Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo,
01:06the PNP remains loyal to the Constitution and the duly constituted authorities.
01:11She added, the National Peace and Order Council meeting involving security forces and some local chief executives is regularly convened.
01:19During the meeting, the PNP presented crime statistics and the status of investigations, including high-profile cases.
01:26The PNP also outlined possible areas of concern for the upcoming elections.
01:31However, Fajardo clarified, the Commission on Elections, or COMELEC,
01:35will officially announce which areas are to be designated as areas of concern.
01:40Also discussed during the meeting include the status quo in the West Philippine Sea,
01:44preparations for the upcoming elections, and the campaign against illegal drugs.
01:49The President is satisfied with his preparations and accomplishments.
01:54So, this is not really a loyalty check on the part of the President.
01:57The President also directed focus on insurgency and local terrorist groups to ensure they do not dispute the upcoming elections.
02:06The President emphasized a strict campaign against Philippine offshore gaming operators.
02:11What our President insisted is really no more POGO and IGL.
02:16There is really no more permission for that and to monitor the PPOs that may be used, that are covert.
02:23The PNP assured, it is prepared to provide and ensure security throughout the holiday season and the upcoming midterm elections.
02:30Strict orders have been issued to monitor areas with intense political rivalries to prevent violence.
02:37From PTV Manila, Ryan Lizigues, Balitang Pambansa.
