00:00Let's see how the residents of La Castellana Negro Occidental are doing following the eruption of Vulcan Canlaon this Monday.
00:09We have live on the spot, Aileen Pedrezo of GMA Regional TV.
00:14Aileen?
00:23Tony, aside from food and water, one of the problems of La Castellana LGU
00:28is whether the condo will be enough for the more than 2,000 families evacuated after the eruption of Vulcan Canlaon.
00:37Since 6 p.m., 10 evacuation centers have been opened in the town of La Castellana Negro Occidental
00:43for the residents who were evacuated after the eruption of Mount Canlaon on Monday.
00:48Because many barangays were affected by the thick fog caused by the volcano,
00:53many residents chose to stay in evacuation centers.
00:58However, due to the large number of evacuees, LGU's problem is whether the condo will be enough
01:03even though the residents stayed in evacuation centers for a long time.
01:07According to LGU's latest report, more than 2,000 families or more than 7,000 individuals are already in evacuation centers.
01:14LGU has already addressed the problem in DSWD for food and non-food items that affected residents need.
01:22One of the problems, according to LGU, is the supply of condoms for relief operations.
01:28That's why LGU is hoping for additional help from the provincial government of Negros Occidental,
01:34especially since the volcano is still in alert level 3.
01:37LGU assured that the water supply of the evacuees in the evacuation centers is enough.
01:43It's still early.
01:44There's a long line here in the water purification unit that was placed inside one of the evacuation centers in the town.
01:51It's a big help, according to one of the evacuees.
01:54It's certain that even inside the evacuation center, drinking water is safe and the spread of the disease can be avoided
02:01and a good supply of water can be extracted.
02:05The water purification unit will take a long time until there are still people remaining in the evacuation center.
02:11Tony, because of the fault caused by the eruption of the volcano back then,
02:15the provincial government is now planning to relocate Negros Occidental to the State of Calamity.
02:22Tony?
02:23Aileen, how is the operation of some establishments in La Castellana?
02:35Tony, the Department of Tourism is suspending the operation of activities and attractions
02:44not only here in the town of La Castellana, but also in other parts of Negros Occidental
02:50such as farm, resort, and trekking sites within the 6 km per minute danger zone of the volcano.
02:58That's the latest from the town of La Castellana.
03:00Back to you, Tony.
03:02Thank you very much, Aileen Pedrezo of GMA Regional TV.
