00:09with the spectacular attracting over 8,500 red, blue and mini Santas.
00:14This was the largest number of entries for a decade. Last year's figure of 6,100 was
00:19snowballed with two weeks to go as Santas dashed to sign up.
00:22The event always takes place on the first Sunday in December. It's often regarded as
00:26the official kickstart to Christmas in Liverpool and it's believed to be the UK's biggest festive
00:315K fun run. Santas travelled from across the country to take part alongside overseas
00:35visitors from Denmark, France, Norway, Switzerland and the USA.
00:39The main Santa Dash 5K started at the pier head with a grandstand finish line outside
00:43Liverpool Town Hall featuring snow. The day also included a mini Dash 1K for youngsters
00:50aged 12 and under. They're staged in 2004. Blue Santa suits were introduced in 2010.
00:55The date for next year's event is confirmed as Sunday, 7th December.
