Transport plan crucial to A2 Buncrana Road widening pushed back to summer 2025

00:00Can the Minister provide us with an update on the long-awaited and long-overdue

00:03dualling of the A2 Buncranagh road? The delays are not just causing problems

00:10with traffic in the area, but more and more potential road safety interventions along

00:15the route have been put off and put off because the dualling has been imminent for nearly 50 years.

00:22The future on the delivery of that project rests with the local transport plan. We hope to be in

00:32a position to launch a consultation on the Downsurban District Council transport plan

00:39early next summer. I believe the date is set for that. That will then fit into how we move

00:46strategic traffic in and around that area, how we deal with the traffic in terms of

00:50the increasing numbers of students and so on in relation to the Magee campus. It is

00:55an important document and I have no doubt the Member will respond to it in due course.
