00:00Today, after a 10-week trial, a jury has found Irfan Sharif and Bina Shpital, the father
00:07and stepmother of 10-year-old Sara Sharif, guilty of her murder. Faisal Malik, Sara's
00:14uncle, was found guilty of causing or allowing her death. Sara was a bright and lively little
00:19girl who loved singing and dancing. And on behalf of Surrey Police, I would like to extend
00:25my deepest condolences to her mother, Olga, her siblings and all those who knew and cared
00:31for her. Sara's spirit and bravery and resilience in the face of the suffering that she endured
00:38has shone through from the vast inquiries that have been undertaken in this case. Sara's
00:43young life was brought to an end as a result of the brutal abuse and unspeakable violence
00:49inflicted on her by Sharif Batool, which Malik did nothing to prevent. This case is
00:56shocked and horrified not only by those who knew and loved her, but people across the
01:01country and around the world.
