00:00A president-elect Trump's pick for defense secretary continues to fight for that job
00:04here on Capitol Hill and at the White House, there's talk about what happens to Biden administration
00:09officials and allies once the new Trump administration comes to town.
00:14Three, two, one.
00:18Whoa!
00:19To President Biden for the final time presiding over the lighting of the National Christmas
00:24Tree.
00:25We continue to seek the light of liberty and love, kindness and compassion, dignity and
00:31decency.
00:32And behind the scenes at the White House, discussions about what comes next.
00:36Both Politico and the Associated Press report that Biden and his team are talking about
00:41issuing broad pardons to a number of administration officials and supporters, like Dr. Anthony
00:47Fauci, former Republican Representative Liz Cheney, Senator-elect Adam Schiff, and others.
00:53The pardons would be extraordinary, broadly worded to cover any potential federal crime
00:58in recent years, similar to the pardon just given to the president's son, Hunter.
01:03But that may go too far.
01:05Some of the people who have been mentioned as potential recipients of these pardons,
01:09like Adam Schiff, the newly elected senator, said they don't want the pardon and it would
01:14be sort of an admission of guilt.
01:16Well, I want to thank everyone.
01:18President-elect Trump, meantime, appeared at the Fox News Patriot Awards last night
01:23as his controversial pick for defense secretary, Pete Hegseth, continues to lobby for the job
01:27on Capitol Hill, fighting back against accusations of sexual misconduct, financial mismanagement,
01:34and his drinking habits.
01:35This will not be a process tried in the media.
01:38I don't answer to anyone in this group, none of you, not to that camera at all.
01:43For now, Trump is standing behind Hegseth, but a number of Republican senators have doubts
01:48about his confirmation.
01:50In Washington, Doug Luzader, Fox News.
