Idris Elba returns in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 as Knuckles the Echidna, and he shared his process for finding the characters voice at the UK premiere in Leicester Square. He was joined by his co-stars Ben Schwartz, Jim Carrey, Keanu Reeves and Krysten Ritter - whom he stopped to say hello to during the interview. 00:40This is obviously the third time in the third project that you'll be playing Knuckles right

00:44now, what keeps you coming back, you wouldn't be doing it if it wasn't fun, would you?

00:48Yeah, it's fun, it's also a bit like living my own, my dream a little bit because I used

00:52to play the game back in the day and Sonic is so iconic and so suddenly I get to be in

00:57it and then my son who's, you know, getting used to Sonic, he gets to hear me in it, it's

01:02amazing, it's a good feeling.

01:03What's the motivation, what kind of character or preparation do you do before you go into

01:07the recording booth?

01:08Uh, I've got to get my voice nice and warm, he's got a deep, deep voice, uh, and try and

01:14be funny, Sonic is funny, I mean, Knuckles is funny, I try and be funny.

01:18Yeah, I try and be as funny as Sonic too, it must be hard as well because Benny's hilarious.

01:22That's hard, Ben's really funny, he's really funny, I just got to play the, you know, straight

01:25guy, not too funny, you know, and then I'll get the laughs.

01:29One of the breakout hits of the last, I guess, few years has been the Hijack series on Apple

01:34and I understand you just wrapped on the second series of that as well, what can we expect?

01:37I haven't wrapped yet, but yes, yeah, we're still working, it's good.
