00:00:00Annaline Craven was lost. She wanted to run. She needed to run away.
00:00:18As the soldiers returned from battle and the sun burnt its last ember rays of the day,
00:00:29she paced. She waited, nervously, fretfully, for him to arrive.
00:00:39Cannons fired and chaos swirled around her as the smoke and fire filled the air.
00:00:57The sounds and smell of war raged.
00:01:03Annaline needed answers to questions she didn't even know existed.
00:01:10Suddenly, as if appearing in a dream, she saw him.
00:01:16Waiting for her.
00:01:21Calling to her with his eyes.
00:01:24Her future and her past meeting in a cornucopia of feelings.
00:01:28Pardon me.
00:01:29Breathless, with anticipation, she waits for Lord Wesley to embrace her.
00:01:33Pardon me.
00:01:34To call her to her destiny.
00:01:36Ms. Casadine.
00:01:39Yes, Fletcher Reese, Annaline's favorite vlogger.
00:01:46So this is the ninth book in the Annaline Craven series.
00:01:49That's correct.
00:01:50That wasn't a question. I was wondering, how does it differ from your previous efforts?
00:01:56Well, in this installment, Annaline is finally ready to relinquish her fame and fortune for the man of her dreams.
00:02:03That's why it's called Losing It All for Love.
00:02:06Isn't that what she did in the last book? Leaving it all for love?
00:02:11Didn't she give away all her riches to a French orphanage to impress Jeffrey St. Pierre?
00:02:16Only to leave him before the start of the next book?
00:02:19And?
00:02:20And the book before that, she got stranded in Amish country for Thanksgiving, parted with everything to gain the trust of that incredibly buff Dutch blacksmith, Dante Van Wyk?
00:02:32That's a great name.
00:02:33And leave him before the start of the next novel?
00:02:35So she's doing that again.
00:02:37How can she leave everything again when she already left everything? Twice?
00:02:42She got it all back.
00:02:43When?
00:02:44Are there any other questions? I thought I saw a hand go up back here.
00:02:47Anyone?
00:02:48And why are you just now promoting this book? It's been out for weeks.
00:02:53I've been busy. Writing.
00:02:57My first Annaline Christmas story.
00:02:59Don't tell me.
00:03:01Annaline will almost fall in love, then run away to an exotic new destination, only to do it all over again.
00:03:09Boring!
00:03:11Well, that about wraps it up, everyone. Thank you so much for coming.
00:03:18Alright, let's throw these in the bargain bin.
00:03:27They'll be back.
00:03:29I hope so.
00:03:31You hope so?
00:03:32Look, Drew, you've got one more book in your book deal. If it doesn't sell, Berkeley won't renew.
00:03:37Well, then we'll find a new publisher, start fresh.
00:03:40I've been making the rounds, nobody's interested. Sales are shrinking, they say e-books are taking over. They say you've lost it.
00:03:47Yeah, okay, I don't care what they say.
00:03:53Hold on.
00:03:54Yo.
00:03:55Wait a minute, you're stuck for real? In what? With who?
00:04:03Wish I could say I didn't see this coming, but I saw it coming.
00:04:07Is that so?
00:04:08It is.
00:04:10Publishers, you're fans, they're right.
00:04:14Your work is stale, your writing is stale, your stories are stale.
00:04:19Well, you're a wannabe author in a vlogger's body.
00:04:24A vlogger with 1.2 million views every single week.
00:04:29I don't care.
00:04:32I think you will.
00:04:38You better check your girl.
00:04:43A cornucopia of fools.
00:04:46Oh, this can't be good.
00:04:47What?
00:04:48You know what happened to the last author who got a bad review from him?
00:04:53Do you want to sign up for a club card, 20% off your next purchase?
00:04:57Um, sure, I guess.
00:05:03Fletcher!
00:05:05Hey, Fletcher! Wait up!
00:05:08Hello?
00:05:12Hi, Mom.
00:05:13Hey, y'all.
00:05:14Everything okay?
00:05:15Yeah, I'm just making my yearly appeal.
00:05:18Okay, okay, Mom, go ahead.
00:05:21Drusinda Cassidy.
00:05:24How about you come on home for the holidays?
00:05:27I'd love to, Mama, but...
00:05:28I can't.
00:05:29Come on, sweet pea.
00:05:31I think it'd do your world a good. I do. Lord knows you need a break.
00:05:35That's what you need.
00:05:36I don't know, Mama.
00:05:38How about you come up here again?
00:05:40But we've had so many good memories.
00:05:42Here you go, honey.
00:05:43And there's this young man, Bryson, I want you to meet.
00:05:46I'll take care of you. You can write.
00:05:48You need this.
00:05:50Rowena!
00:05:52Oh, no.
00:05:53I see. Um...
00:05:55The sand.
00:05:56I don't believe that's possible.
00:05:58Breezes.
00:06:00On the blackened tuna.
00:06:01What?
00:06:02Shrimp.
00:06:03Mushroom.
00:06:04Mushroom.
00:06:05A famous Christmas cocktail.
00:06:07Rowena.
00:06:08What does she want?
00:06:09There's no way that Drusinda can complete a new book by January.
00:06:12She would need at least...
00:06:13A year.
00:06:14A year?
00:06:15What, next year?
00:06:18A year.
00:06:19Oh, sweetie.
00:06:21How long are you going to keep doing this?
00:06:23I want to see you. I miss seeing you.
00:06:25Six months.
00:06:26I can't.
00:06:27Did I mention that it's the bicentennial anniversary of the parade?
00:06:33Two months.
00:06:34I...
00:06:35Hey.
00:06:36That's once a centennial.
00:06:37Sounds great.
00:06:38No.
00:06:39No, thank you, Rowena, dear.
00:06:40I know we're looking forward to it.
00:06:42Merry Christmas to you, too.
00:06:43Okay.
00:06:44Mom?
00:06:45Okay, bye.
00:06:46I gotta call you back.
00:06:47Oh.
00:06:48Okay.
00:06:49Yeah, my agent's talking crazy.
00:06:50But you'll think about it.
00:06:51I will.
00:06:52I promise.
00:06:54Love you.
00:06:56I love you, too.
00:06:57I love you, too.
00:06:58Bye, Mama.
00:07:02What did she say?
00:07:03You have until February 1st to deliver, and these are her words, not mine,
00:07:12the best book of her life.
00:07:28Okay.
00:07:30Two months.

00:08:37its way through the bayou yeah maybe Fletchers right Fletcher
00:08:57Fletcher Reese Fletcher on the books one wonders what is going on in Miss
00:09:15Cassidyne's head our beloved Annaline has dated and left more Dukes, Archdukes,
00:09:21Counts, Princes, Ambassadors, and Viceroy's in her wake than is humanly
00:09:26possible nine years and she has yet to fall in love these characters and
00:09:32subplots are stale perhaps a change of scenery would do Miss Cassidyne and her
00:09:38character world good and while I'm dispensing advice here's something else
00:09:43for you to chew on from one writer to another step out of your comfort zone
00:09:49we Americans are fond of saying if it ain't broke don't fix it

00:10:26enough to know he's wrong what I don't know Drew I think I'm sad with him

00:10:38to the mountains or some remote island somewhere and they create masterpieces

00:19:32You two know each other?
00:19:33Yes.
00:19:35We met over a bag of marshmallows.
00:19:39Bryce and Flynn.
00:19:44Nice try, Lumberjack.
00:19:46I just...
00:19:47I didn't think this would happen in Harbor Point.
00:19:49I'm sorry, what now?
00:19:50You know, people make up phony names hoping I'll use them in my books.
00:19:54Bryce and Flynn.
00:19:55That's really nice.
00:19:56No, no.
00:19:57Actually, I was named after my great-great-great-grandpa.
00:20:00He was Lumberjack, too.
00:20:02Oh.
00:20:07Drew is an author.
00:20:10Oh, nice.
00:20:11She's a best-selling author.
00:20:13Well, that's true.
00:20:17Oh, congratulations?
00:20:20What's up?
00:20:22Hey, hey.
00:20:23That is great timing.
00:20:24This is my daughter, Peyton.
00:20:26You are Jacinda Cassidyne.
00:20:28Yeah.
00:20:29I love all of your books.
00:20:30I'm a writer, too.
00:20:32But not like you yet.
00:20:34It's just my passion.
00:20:35Oh, that's great.
00:20:37I really love the outfit, too.
00:20:38It's very chic.
00:20:42You obviously get your manners from your mother.
00:20:46That she does.
00:20:48Peyton's mama passed a couple of years ago.
00:20:53I'm so sorry.
00:20:55No, no, no.
00:20:56It's okay.
00:20:57She loves your books, too.
00:20:59That's very sweet.
00:21:01Well, Miss Ellie, thank you for the invitation, but we're gonna...
00:21:04Oh, no, you just got here.
00:21:06He's got a date to go to.
00:21:08Oh, wow.
00:21:09In that case...
00:21:10It's not a date.
00:21:11It's just, you know, coffee.
00:21:13Well, Peyton's staying with me.
00:21:15We got some cookies to bake.
00:21:17You gonna stick around?
00:21:18Yeah.
00:21:19Okay.
00:21:20Well, give me a call if you need me to pick you up.
00:21:21Okay.
00:21:22Evening, everyone.
00:21:23Evening.
00:21:24Love you, Dad.
00:21:25Bye.
00:21:27Pleasure.
00:21:31Oh, this could be the best batch of sugar cookies we ever baked.
00:21:37So what do you say? Sprinkles?
00:21:39Yes.
00:21:41Oh, makes me wish I was in the cookie eating contest.
00:21:45Well, we are the official bakers, so we get to taste them.
00:21:48We have to make sure they're not poisoned.
00:21:50We don't want to poison any Santas.
00:21:54I hope you got insulin on standby.
00:21:58Sugaring.
00:22:00Any gluten-free?
00:22:02What's a gluten?
00:22:04Ha!
00:22:05Yeah.
00:22:06I'm just kidding.
00:22:07I did this paper last year about the benefits of a gluten-free diet,
00:22:12hoping to convince my dad to eat healthier.
00:22:14Did it work?
00:22:15Not really.
00:22:16He says he is gluten-free for 12 hours a day, 8 p.m. to 8 a.m.
00:22:20That's funny.
00:22:21That's when he's sleeping.
00:22:23Whatever.
00:22:31Annaline enters the castle breathless with anticipation.
00:22:36She waits for...
00:22:41Baron von Smythe.
00:22:43Oh, been there, done that.
00:22:54Mmm.
00:22:58Annaline takes the hand of the beggar.
00:23:01I'll give up everything I have for the love of...
00:23:19This isn't working.
00:23:20You can't come back to New York for it. You just got there.
00:23:22We talked about this.
00:23:23Change of scenery equals bestseller. Say it to me.
00:23:25Yeah, I can get a change of scenery someplace else.
00:23:29Say it.
00:23:30I can't think here.
00:23:31Okay.
00:23:32I don't belong here.
00:23:33Hawk, I never did.
00:23:35Annaline Craven would have to have the patience of, I don't know,
00:23:39Professor Higgins to stay here with these people.
00:23:43Who's Professor Wiggins?
00:23:44Higgins.
00:23:46Henry Higgins.
00:23:48From Pygmalion?
00:23:49My fair lady.
00:23:51How is business if you don't know Pygmalion?
00:23:53I don't have to read everything to be good at what I do.
00:23:55Right now, my only priority is to make sure that you write the quote-unquote book of your life.
00:24:00Henry Higgins.
00:24:02Oh, fine. I'll buy a copy tomorrow and read it. Get off my back.
00:24:05Henry Higgins fixes Eliza Doolittle.
00:24:09A town full of Eliza Doolittles.
00:24:12Annaline can fix her town.
00:24:13Do you even need me for this conversation?
00:24:15I gotta go, Hawk.
00:24:18What are you looking at?
00:24:24Higgins. Higgins.
00:24:26Hi, Mama.
00:24:32Say what?
00:24:33This was the moment that everyone had waited for, and Annaline knew it.
00:24:38She hadn't been home in years.
00:24:40The memories were too painful, too harmful.
00:24:45But with absolute clarity, she knew she couldn't put it off any longer.
00:24:49I'm leaving New York, she proclaimed with a certainty unlike any she had ever felt.
00:24:54I'm going back home to the coast, and I can assure you, my hometown will never be the same again.
00:25:14Biscuits and bacon.
00:25:38Biscuits and bacon.
00:25:41Biscuits and bacon.
00:25:46Biscuits and bacon.
00:25:56Everyone, remember my daughter Drew?
00:26:11What am I doing here?
00:26:13What is he doing here?
00:26:18It's the planning committee for the boat parade.
00:26:21Come join us.
00:26:23To be honest, we could really use a celebrity judge.
00:26:30Wait.
00:26:31When I get to, like, meet the committee, hear some stories, get to know the locals...
00:26:38Maybe more than you want to know.
00:26:40I doubt that.
00:26:42I have to wear one of those old-timey dresses like you used to.
00:26:45You know you would.
00:26:49I'll do it.
00:26:50You will?
00:26:51Yeah.
00:26:52Yep, I'm gonna do it.
00:26:53That's so exciting!
00:26:54See, I knew it.
00:26:55As soon as she came back, he jumped right back into the swing of it.
00:26:58Yeah, I'm just gonna, I'm gonna shower and stuff.
00:27:03So, y'all know the rules.
00:27:05Each Santa Claus has a plate of cookies in front of him.
00:27:08And a glass of milk, soy milk, for you, Bob.
00:27:11You got this.
00:27:13This is your year.
00:27:15Okay?
00:27:16First gringo to eat all his cookies and milk wins.
00:27:20So.
00:27:22On your mark.
00:27:24Get set.
00:27:27Start eating!
00:27:30Wait, here we go!
00:27:36They don't dunk, but they're not smooth that way.
00:27:44Well, what do you think?
00:27:49It's brilliant.
00:27:51I mean, what a turd.
00:27:52Annaline Craven goes to her off-the-grid coastal hometown
00:27:55to teach the local yokels about love, life, and the world.
00:27:58Amazing.
00:27:59What about a love interest?
00:28:00I mean, I'm sure there's gotta be some dashing southern gentleman
00:28:03for Annaline in Harbor Point that's at least half as good looking as I am.
00:28:07Yeah, there's some prospects.
00:28:10I like the sound of that.
00:28:12Keep it up.
00:28:13Bye.
00:28:20Derek wins!
00:28:28It's okay, honey. There's always next year.
00:28:34Come on!
00:28:41Now for the Christmas Eve boat parade.
00:28:43Stephanie, you're so good with kids, so I got you on sandbox duty again.
00:28:48Marion, if you can handle the first aid table and the volunteers, I can do the show.
00:28:54Sure.
00:28:55Bryson.
00:28:56Yes, ma'am?
00:28:57I'm thinking that you would make an excellent host for the event after the parade.
00:29:04Okay, what do you need me to do?
00:29:06Get up on stage, welcome everyone, give a brief history of the event,
00:29:11talk about Hancock Birch and why it's an important tradition for us.
00:29:15And that's it?
00:29:17Well, that's it. You have to do it in period costume.
00:29:21You mind if I think about it?
00:29:23Of course. I understand.
00:29:26I do.
00:29:27Hello, everyone.
00:29:28Hi, Drew.
00:29:29Oh, what you got there?
00:29:30Oh, well, I see you have your usual fare, but I thought you might like to try my very own carrot and asparagus pâté.
00:29:40Well, it looks lovely.
00:29:42What's pâté?
00:29:44I think it's goose liver.
00:29:45What'd you say is in it again?
00:29:47Pâté.
00:29:48Oh.
00:29:49It's carrots and asparagus pâté.
00:29:55It looks funny, too.
00:29:56Do you have any biscuits or crackers or anything that goes with that?
00:30:03That's what these little celery sticks are for.
00:30:06You just get a little dip on there and...
00:30:11Really?
00:30:16Oh, here. The pimento cheese sandwich is a promise.
00:30:19That's what I'm talking about.
00:30:20Oh, that looks delicious.
00:30:21It looks really good.
00:30:22I'm sorry, honey.
00:30:23So good.
00:30:24You know what? I'm going to try the pâté.
00:30:31Yeah.
00:30:32Let me get a little more.
00:30:36What's it taste like?
00:30:37Does it taste like chicken?
00:30:39It's good.
00:30:45Save yourself.
00:30:46Okay, what's next?
00:30:48Melissa, let's talk about...
00:30:50Nothing had changed in Harbor Point.
00:30:52The people were the same.
00:30:54They still thought Annaline was weird.
00:30:56They still laughed behind her back.
00:30:58But through it all, she was not moved from her course.
00:31:21I cannot tell you how happy I was to hear from you.
00:31:24I figured it was time for us to catch up.
00:31:27So, tell me everything you've been up to since high school.
00:31:29I will, but first, I have a confession to make.
00:31:33Sometimes I wish I had just left this place too, you know?
00:31:39Traveled the world a little bit instead of getting married so young.
00:31:43Yeah, I know. I know exactly what you mean.
00:31:45Really?
00:31:46Yeah.
00:31:47Good.
00:31:48I don't know what to think about it.
00:31:49Just leaving it all behind.
00:31:51Seeing the world.
00:31:53Never coming back.
00:31:56I think everybody thinks about that sometimes, right?
00:32:00Yeah.
00:32:01Yeah.
00:32:02Yeah.
00:32:03But...
00:32:05I'm...
00:32:06I'm happy.
00:32:09I really am. I'm just...
00:32:12I'm just tired.
00:32:14Yeah.
00:32:18Do you remember that time that we peddled down to the Candy Corral and spent all of our change?
00:32:24Yeah, sixth grade. We made ourselves sick.
00:32:27I had so many soda pops, I thought you would have to roll me home.
00:32:31I had so many cowtails. I don't think I've had a cowtail since.
00:32:37What really happened to us, Drew?
00:32:40To our friendship?
00:32:42I don't know. Just high school. You changed.
00:32:46So did I.
00:32:48You isolated yourself from me, Drew. From everyone.
00:32:53All you ever did was go out on that pier and stare out at the water and write.
00:32:57No, because nobody talked to me, Marion.
00:33:00Nobody liked me. Understood me.
00:33:03Well, we thought you didn't like us.
00:33:05Okay.
00:33:06Why would I like you guys? You...
00:33:09You made fun of me for being different.
00:33:12I'm sorry. It's just...
00:33:14Everyone made fun of everyone back then.
00:33:17It was just high school.
00:33:19You know what? This was really fun, but I... I gotta go.
00:33:24I envy you, Marianne said sheepishly.
00:33:27You have the life I always wanted but was too afraid to go after.
00:33:31Instead, I ended up stuck in a rut.
00:33:37What started as a peaceful retreat in her hometown had now become a mission for Annaline.
00:33:53To save these people from themselves.
00:33:55To teach them how to live life to the fullest.
00:34:07I love you.
00:34:21Hello? Hello.
00:34:23Sweet, you sleeping on top of your phone?
00:34:26What time is it?
00:34:27It's 8.30, sunshine. Time to rise and shine.
00:34:30Did you read the new pages?
00:34:32Well, not only did I read them, Rowena read them.
00:34:35Rowena? What? I wasn't ready for her to...
00:34:38What did she say?
00:34:40She loved it. She loved all of it.
00:34:42The backwards coastal town, the jealous best friend, the mysterious love interest.
00:34:46She said, if you keep this up, thank you.
00:34:48She said, you're gonna have another winner on your hands for sure.
00:34:50Yes. Yes!
00:34:55So whatever you're doing, keep doing it.
00:34:57I told you this would work. Was I right?
00:34:59Whatever.
00:35:00Say it. Say I was right.
00:35:01Hawk, you were right. Say it.
00:35:03Hawk, you were right.
00:35:05And I was wrong.
00:35:07And I was... Oh!
00:35:09I gotta go! I, I, I, I got another call and there's a boat and...
00:35:13Drew.
00:35:14Yeah.
00:35:18Yes.
00:35:20This is as festive as it gets.
00:35:21Why you think they call me Get It Done Flo?
00:35:23Sarah Beth, honey, you ain't seen nothing.
00:35:26It's the same thing every year at my house.
00:35:28Me hiding the plastic reindeers in the cellar and Leslie pulling them out
00:35:31and putting them on the roof in front of God and everybody.
00:35:33Well, at least you don't have a whole yard full of gargoyles and garden gnomes
00:35:38that turn into Christmas elves every December.
00:35:41Bless his heart.
00:35:44Peach toddler.
00:35:45Uh-uh-uh.
00:35:46In a jar?
00:35:47Yes, honey.
00:35:48Oh, my.
00:35:49Go on with it.
00:35:55So, I mean...
00:35:56Hey.
00:36:02Think I should pound the kid?
00:36:04What are you doing here?
00:36:07Would you believe it?
00:36:11Well, what do you think?
00:36:13Well, she's definitely interested.
00:36:16I guess boys are inevitable.
00:36:18Oh, yeah.
00:36:20It's hard being both mom and dad.
00:36:23Sometimes I don't know what to do.
00:36:25Really?
00:36:27Seems to me you're doing a great job.
00:36:30Uh-oh.
00:36:31Oh, come on.
00:36:34Inevitable.
00:36:39This is good, Peyton.
00:36:41Really, really good.
00:36:43And I'm not just saying that either.
00:36:45Thank you. That means a lot.
00:36:47Why did you decide to set your story in Miami?
00:36:49Why not somewhere more interesting?
00:36:51All my stories are set in beach towns.
00:36:53My family really didn't get to travel much,
00:36:55but when we did, the beach was always my mom's first choice.
00:37:00Yeah, I see.
00:37:01That's good reason.
00:37:03Do you travel a lot?
00:37:04Like, Annalyn?
00:37:05Oh, yeah.
00:37:06From the icy glaciers of Patagonia
00:37:08to the snow-covered mountains of the French Alps.
00:37:10But my favorite place on Earth?
00:37:12Kiruna, Sweden.
00:37:13I stay at the Ice Hotel.
00:37:15Wait, the Ice Hotel?
00:37:17Yeah, it's actually made from fresh snow and ice
00:37:19that come from a river just north of the Arctic Circle.
00:37:22Pretty cool, huh?
00:37:23Pretty cold.
00:37:25No, that was bad!
00:37:27Do you have more jokes like that in here?
00:37:29I hope not.
00:37:30No, I love the cold weather.
00:37:32I love living in a place with all four seasons.
00:37:35Wait, so you must love Christmas in the city, then?
00:37:38Yeah, yeah.
00:37:41I guess so.
00:37:43I'm starting to remember why I love Christmas here.
00:37:47Um, sorry.
00:37:50That is my dad.
00:37:52I gotta get going.
00:37:53Um, I'll walk you home. We can keep talking.
00:37:55Okay.
00:37:57So, do you like it here in Harbor Point?
00:37:59Oh, yeah, I do.
00:38:00You have a lot of friends?
00:38:03Uh, a few.
00:38:05Most of the kids here grew up together,
00:38:07so, you know, I'm still kind of the new kid.
00:38:10Aw, that's not bad.
00:38:12I think it's good to start over every now and again.
00:38:15Leave the past behind you.
00:38:17Is that why Annaline has a new adventure in every book?
00:38:21Yeah.
00:38:22I guess so.
00:38:24Smarty pants.
00:38:34Drew, this is Mongrel.
00:38:36Mongrel, this is Drew.
00:38:38Mongrel.
00:38:39What a perfect name.
00:38:41I guess my mom named him.
00:38:42He was just a puppy when she died.
00:38:44Oh.
00:38:46Hey, Peyton.
00:38:47Why don't we take Mongrel back inside?
00:38:49Yes, sir.
00:38:51Good night, Drew.
00:38:53Bye, Peyton.
00:38:54Thanks for walking me home.
00:38:55My pleasure.
00:38:57She's great.
00:38:58She is.
00:38:59Yeah.
00:39:02These are fantastic. You make these?
00:39:05I did.
00:39:06I get the wood from some of the old buildings here in town.
00:39:08The ones that are falling down, and I make them in my shop.
00:39:12They're beautiful. I've seen them around.
00:39:14Well, thank you.
00:39:16I guess it feels good to take something lost and discarded and make it beautiful again.
00:39:22Start over.
00:39:28So, can I return the favor and walk you back?
00:39:32Okay.
00:39:36You know, let's make a shortcut.
00:39:39What on earth made you decide to settle in Harbor Point?
00:39:42What's wrong with Harbor Point?
00:39:43Ugh.
00:39:46You know, when I was a kid, I loved it. I loved everything about it.
00:39:50It's just, it's hard for me here.
00:39:55Blood memories.
00:40:00And it's confining.
00:40:02It's quiet.
00:40:03Boring.
00:40:05It's got a lot of traditions.
00:40:06Old-fashioned.
00:40:07The people here are honest, real.
00:40:09I would say judgmental.
00:40:11Yeah, all right.
00:40:14How long have you been going?
00:40:16Um, ten years since my last visit.
00:40:19Fifteen since I came back regularly.
00:40:23Fifteen years?
00:40:25Yeah, yeah.
00:40:27I left her my heart way before that.
00:40:37Bye-bye, thanks.
00:40:42So, well, it's, uh...
00:40:50Yeah.
00:40:52Thanks again.
00:40:54No, it's my pleasure.
00:40:59Goodnight.
00:41:12Annaline was slowly warming to the idea of Finnegan.
00:41:17His tough exterior was breaking down, and she was intrigued.
00:41:22But Annaline still wasn't sure.
00:41:24He was the salt of the earth.
00:41:26A good father, and a good man who had once been a good husband.
00:41:31But where was the sense of adventure?
00:41:33The romance?
00:41:35Where was the poetry?
00:41:42♪
00:41:53Hey, Miss Allie, Merry Christmas!
00:41:56♪
00:42:00♪
00:42:10Dear Drew, thanks for joining us.
00:42:13I've included you on the Christmas committee email chain.
00:42:17Enjoy, Mom.
00:42:20Welcome to the committee.
00:42:22Glad to have you, Drew.
00:42:25Can't wait to see you again.
00:42:28Ugh.
00:42:31♪
00:42:48Annaline was surrounded by echoes of her lost past.
00:42:53Tree branches with long lines of Spanish moss that glistened in the sunlight
00:43:00as the lazy days faded into each other.
00:43:12I look like I'm from the 1700s?
00:43:17Drew.
00:43:18Wow.
00:43:19Beautiful.
00:43:22You look so pretty.
00:43:24I remember when you used to wear this dress every year, Mama.
00:43:28Your daddy used to stand at the foot of the stairs and whistle.
00:43:35I remember.
00:43:41Okay, okay, I'll wear the dress.
00:43:43But I'm not singing.
00:43:45Okay, okay.
00:43:48So, I have the teams for the boat decorating contest.
00:43:53Yes! Awesome! Drew, you and I are on a team together.
00:43:58Oh, and Dad...
00:44:04Really?
00:44:07♪
00:44:15The warm salt air beckoned to her.
00:44:18It whispered to her of days spent in the sunlight with the sand beneath her feet
00:44:23as the water rang out to her.
00:44:25The sights.
00:44:27The sounds.
00:44:28The coast.
00:44:30They all triggered ancient thoughts of times long past for Annaline.
00:44:35Times once buried just beneath the surface.
00:44:49Hey, we're here to decorate.
00:44:51Hey!
00:44:52Hey, guys.
00:44:53Wow, this is really nice.
00:44:56Dad restored it himself.
00:44:57Really?
00:44:58Tell her why you restored it, Dad.
00:45:00No, I don't think that's a story worth telling.
00:45:02Come on, tell me.
00:45:05I promised my wife that I'd build her a boat one day and that we'd sail around the world.
00:45:09It was, you know, just silly talk.
00:45:11Oh, I think that's sweet.
00:45:15So, where do you guys want to start?
00:45:17With these.
00:45:18Oh, yeah?
00:45:19Yeah.
00:45:21Yeah.
00:45:32So, have you taken her out yet?
00:45:35No, no.
00:45:36I actually just finished up the repairs.
00:45:38Oh, good luck with that.
00:45:40Thanks for the vote of confidence.
00:45:42You're welcome.
00:45:45Peyton's big on Christmas, huh?
00:45:47Yeah, she is.
00:45:49Yeah.
00:45:50I was an early child, too, you know.
00:45:52No, I didn't know that.
00:45:53Yeah.
00:45:54It was just me, my mom, and Dad.
00:45:56We, uh, my mom was my best friend when I was a little kid.
00:46:02My dad, he loved Christmas.
00:46:07Loved everything about it.
00:46:09The lights, the trees, all of it.
00:46:13Hmm.
00:46:16He, um, he died when I was 12.
00:46:23Hmm.
00:46:24After that, life got hard.
00:46:29Christmas got just hard.
00:46:35Eventually, I couldn't wait to leave.
00:46:39I'm sorry.
00:46:40That got deep.
00:46:41No, no, it's okay.
00:46:42It did.
00:46:43I'm sorry.
00:46:44Um, where are you from?
00:46:47I'm from Colorado.
00:46:48Oh, mountain man.
00:46:50Lumberjack.
00:46:52I always thought that's where I'd be.
00:46:55My wife's from there, too, and she loved the beach.
00:47:01You know, she loved the water.
00:47:03So, here we are.
00:47:06Peyton talks about her all the time.
00:47:08Mm-hmm.
00:47:12So, shall we light her up?
00:47:14Yes.
00:47:15Yes.
00:47:16Okay, ready, you guys?
00:47:17Ready.
00:47:18Yes, do it.
00:47:19One, two, three.
00:47:24Yeah, there it is.
00:47:25It looks great.
00:47:26That looks fantastic.
00:47:28It is an excellent boat.
00:47:30Nicely done.
00:47:31Finnegan might not have been brimming with adventure, but he was certainly a romantic,
00:47:37a poet in his own right, and a man who loved his wife deeply.
00:47:43Adeline couldn't help but wonder what it felt like to have that kind of love.
00:47:49She wondered if she would ever know.
00:47:59You know, it's kind of big at this point.
00:48:01I feel like I'm rattling around.
00:48:04Why don't you sell it?
00:48:06Mama, you really see yourself living here for the rest of your life?
00:48:11Where in the world would I go?
00:48:14This is my home.
00:48:17Of course, I wouldn't mind a vacation now and then.
00:48:20And as fun as it is, visiting you doesn't count.
00:48:23I swear, it's hard to get a moment's rest.
00:48:25What with everybody coming to me for everything all the time.
00:48:28Really?
00:48:29Like what?
00:48:31Oh, well, everything.
00:48:35You name it.
00:48:36One second, they're asking me to bake birthday cakes for the nursing center.
00:48:42And the next, a young couple's coming to me for marital advice.
00:48:47Really?
00:48:49Doesn't that get annoying?
00:48:51No.
00:48:53In my heart, I love it.
00:48:56Makes me feel useful.
00:49:00It's best to feel needed.
00:49:03Yeah, I mean, you have your own life.
00:49:08Well, helping people is my life.
00:49:14That's all I know.
00:49:18So, perfect.
00:49:24I'm so glad you came home, Drew.
00:49:26Me too, Mama.
00:49:28I remember.
00:49:30No singing.
00:49:31No, ma'am.
00:49:33No singing.
00:49:36Low country ball is ready.
00:49:48Drew!
00:49:50Um, Mama, I'll be back, okay?
00:49:52Drew!
00:49:55I am so, so sorry.
00:49:57I should have been here earlier, but my dad had to change his shirt five times.
00:50:03S'mores.
00:50:05I'll see you guys later, okay?
00:50:10Nice shirt.
00:50:12Thanks.
00:50:14Wow.
00:50:16You look lovely.
00:50:19Um, thank you.
00:50:22You hungry?
00:50:24Yeah, absolutely.
00:50:26Boom!
00:50:33It comes naturally to you, doesn't it?
00:50:35What's that?
00:50:36Being a dad.
00:50:38Thanks, but that wasn't always the case.
00:50:41Oh, come on.
00:50:44Sure you want to know?
00:50:46Yeah.
00:50:48Okay.
00:50:53I, uh, I used to own a construction company in Colorado.
00:50:59Business was booming.
00:51:01We were doing well.
00:51:02Nice.
00:51:03And I ended up knee-deep in it.
00:51:05So much so that I was traveling all the time.
00:51:08And when I wasn't traveling, I was always on the phone.
00:51:12I started missing date night.
00:51:17Then it was family dinners.
00:51:21Anniversaries.
00:51:26When Peyton was born, I promised Barbara that I would be better.
00:51:34That we'd travel more and we'd spend more time as a family.
00:51:36I'd be there for the soccer games and the recitals.
00:51:39Fix up the boat.
00:51:41We'd go sailing.
00:51:46And I broke every promise.
00:51:50Hey.
00:51:55You built the boat?
00:51:56Yeah.
00:51:59I built it now.
00:52:01I've been trying really hard to make up for all the other mistakes, too.
00:52:06I mean, I do the whole no cell phone at the dinner table and no late nights at work.
00:52:14But really it's more about spending time together now.
00:52:20It's about all the fun times.
00:52:24You know?
00:52:28Anyway, speaking of fun things, I want to take the boat out on its maiden voyage tomorrow.
00:52:34Peyton can't make it.
00:52:36And I could really use a first mate.
00:52:40Me?
00:52:42Yeah, you.
00:52:43I mean, unless you're afraid.
00:52:45No, I'm not afraid.
00:52:47No.
00:52:48It's just, yeah, I'll go.
00:52:50I can go.
00:52:51You'll go?
00:52:52Yeah.
00:52:53Aye aye, Captain.
00:52:55Okay.
00:52:56Wait, wait, wait.
00:52:57How about this one?
00:52:58Aye aye, Captain.
00:52:59No.
00:53:00Arg.
00:53:05You know, you don't have to do the first mate thing if you don't want to come to think of it.
00:53:10All right, everybody, gather round.
00:53:12I think they're getting ready to light the tree.
00:53:14Three, two, one.
00:53:17Yeah!
00:53:47I was about 80% sure you were going to chicken out.
00:54:01Yeah, I was about 90% sure I was going to chicken out.
00:54:06But every captain needs first mate, right?
00:54:10Right.
00:54:12Well, come on, first mate.
00:54:14Aye aye.
00:54:17So, what are we doing?
00:54:20Well, I'm going to get rid of some of this extra cargo because too much weight could cause the boat to heel or tilt and slow us down.
00:54:26Oh, right, right.
00:54:27We don't want that.
00:54:28What can I get rid of?
00:54:29You know, Moses stuff can go.
00:54:30All we really need is the wind in our sails.
00:54:32Okay, got it.
00:54:47All right, why don't we take a break and enjoy the sun?
00:54:56What was that?
00:55:06It's okay.
00:55:09Are you sure?
00:55:10Yeah.
00:55:11Okay, what's going on?
00:55:14Why are we stopping?
00:55:15That's a good question.
00:55:21Everything seems to be in working order.
00:55:24Well, obviously it's not in good working order or we wouldn't just be stopped like this, right?
00:55:30Yeah.
00:55:31I'm thinking that due to the sporadic wind, we're using more fuel than we normally would because we're on empty, which is not a big deal.
00:55:37I'm just going to gas it up and we'll be on our way.
00:55:39Okay, great.
00:55:42What are you looking for?
00:55:44A fuel container.
00:55:48Yeah, was that maybe that big red plastic thing that was...
00:55:51Yeah, did you see it?
00:55:53Remember when you said to move the stuff off the boat so we wouldn't...
00:55:58You didn't.
00:55:59I did.
00:56:00How was I supposed to know a sailboat needs gas?
00:56:02You said all we need is the wind in our sails.
00:56:04You know what? It's no big deal.
00:56:05I'm just going to call somebody, have them bring us some more fuel.
00:56:08Okay, good.
00:56:09That's a solid plan.
00:56:13My phone's dead. You mind if I borrow yours?
00:56:15Yep, yep. That's...
00:56:20Where's my purse? It was sitting in the crate.
00:56:22The wooden one?
00:56:24Yeah.
00:56:25Yeah. I unloaded that one.
00:56:28Hey, it's okay. It's okay. The wind will be along any minute.
00:56:31So just sit back and relax.
00:56:35See? Feels like it right now.
00:56:38Okay.
00:56:41Okay, just, um...
00:56:44Sit down and relax.
00:56:47Be relaxed.
00:56:49Relax.
00:56:51Why don't you have a radio?
00:56:53Because I was waiting for it to go on sail.
00:56:55Get it? Sail? Like the boat?
00:56:58Mm-hmm.
00:57:00Why don't you just sit back down and relax?
00:57:02If we're not back by a reasonable hour, Elio Peyton will send somebody for us.
00:57:05Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. I'll just sit down, relax.
00:57:08Could you just trust me? I've...
00:57:10Listen, Buster, I didn't get where I am today by blindly trusting anyone, okay?
00:57:13Trusting the wrong people is what gets you into situations like this.
00:57:28You know, sometimes we think that the best way to deal with disappointment is, um...
00:57:34You pretend that it doesn't exist.
00:57:37And we'll run away.
00:57:42And I know this isn't your thing.
00:57:45You like to be in control, and I get it.
00:57:48But for right now, accept the fact...
00:57:51that no one here is gonna hurt you or let you down.
00:57:57Trust me.
00:58:08Hi.
00:58:21So, um, I haven't been on the water since I was 12.
00:58:26Really? Yeah.
00:58:29My daddy used to take me to the beach all the time, you know?
00:58:34He'd go out in the water a little at a time until I was brave enough to play and swim.
00:58:41After he died, I, uh...
00:58:46I couldn't... I couldn't do it anymore.
00:58:50I couldn't go near the water. I was too... too scared.
00:58:54Hmm. Can't imagine you being afraid of anything.
00:58:58Hmm. But not again.
00:59:02What?
00:59:04What? I don't know.
00:59:07Sometimes when people put up a tough exterior, it's because they're pretty soft on the inside or...
00:59:13pretty scared.
00:59:16So what's your you, lumberjack?
00:59:22Honestly, a little of both. Really?
00:59:26What are you afraid of?
00:59:30Terrified of being a bad dad.
00:59:35No, not possible.
00:59:38I won't find love again, and I won't get a second chance.
00:59:43Really?
00:59:46Yeah.
01:00:00Hey!
01:00:03Hey there! Y'all need some help?
01:00:07You gotta be kidding me.
01:00:10With stunning clarity, Annaline realized something.
01:00:14For the first time, she didn't want to run away.
01:00:19All the things she thought she wanted no longer seemed important.
01:00:25And the pain she had felt all these years began to melt into oblivion.
01:00:32For the first time in a long time, she was truly and deeply falling in love.
01:00:54Dad?
01:01:00Hey.
01:01:02Are you okay?
01:01:04Yeah, yeah, I'm, uh... Drew left this.
01:01:10You like her, don't you?
01:01:14But, Dad...
01:01:17It's okay if you like her.
01:01:21It's okay if you're happy.
01:01:25Mom would want that.
01:01:29You think so?
01:01:31Yeah.
01:01:34Dad, it is all she's ever wanted, okay?
01:01:39She loves you, and I do too.
01:01:44How did you get to be so smart?
01:01:48You're like a teacher.
01:01:50Get over here.
01:01:55I love you, Dad.
01:01:59I love you too.
01:02:03Drew! You have a visitor!
01:02:07Great! Tell him I'll be down in five minutes.
01:02:14Well, someone's up and out.
01:02:18Early?
01:02:20Well, yeah, I had to catch a red-eye.
01:02:22What are you doing here?
01:02:23I've been calling you and you won't answer, so I had to fly down here to see what you were up to.
01:02:26I've got Rowena breathing down my neck about the manuscript.
01:02:29You look great, by the way.
01:02:31Oh, thank you. It's not February yet.
01:02:33I know, but she wants to see the first 20 chapters, like, right away, now, before Christmas.
01:02:37When they're done, I will send them to her.
01:02:39Does Rowena seem like someone who's willing to wait?
01:02:42I'll finish.
01:02:43When?
01:02:44Soon. Ish.
01:02:46Would you like some pancakes, Mr. Kramer?
01:02:48I would love some pancakes, along with some baby pictures of Drew, if you have them.
01:02:52You need to go back to New York.
01:02:53I will, after I get my pancakes.
01:02:58Bryson!
01:02:59Hey.
01:03:00Hi.
01:03:01You forgot this.
01:03:02Yeah, thank you. Thanks.
01:03:04That's sweet.
01:03:07Hi.
01:03:08Hi.
01:03:09Hawk Kramer.
01:03:10Hawk. Bryson. Bryson. Hawk.
01:03:13My agent.
01:03:14Oh.
01:03:15And you know what? He was just leaving.
01:03:18What?
01:03:19Mama's making pancakes.
01:03:24Nice to meet you.
01:03:25Why do I get the feeling you're trying to get rid of me?
01:03:27Because I am trying to get rid of you.
01:03:28Why?
01:03:29Just, you know, need to get back to work.
01:03:33They don't know you're writing a book about them, do they?
01:03:35Shh. Just shh. It's, um, it's complicated.
01:03:38Are you and Bryson, I mean, Finnegan?
01:03:41No.
01:03:42Oh, yes. I mean, maybe. Maybe.
01:03:49You need to go back to New York.
01:03:51I will send you pages by end of day tomorrow. I promise.
01:03:53I really wanted pancakes!
01:03:58I can still see you.
01:04:03Is it pouring rain?
01:04:05No.
01:04:06Or pouring the rain.
01:04:10You know, what do I say here, or what do I say in front of my friends in New York?
01:04:13You can't.
01:04:14No. It's not possible. You have to...
01:04:17Hey, excuse us.
01:04:18The kid is really... cute.
01:04:26Hi.
01:04:27Hi.
01:04:30Bryson!
01:04:31That's about right.
01:04:32Jacinda!
01:04:34Hey.
01:04:35Hi.
01:04:36Oh.
01:04:37I'm sorry. Did I interrupt something?
01:04:39No. No, not at all.
01:04:42Good. You'll never guess who I just ran into.
01:04:45Who?
01:04:46Do you remember Katie Bryton?
01:04:48Mm-hmm.
01:04:49We went to school together.
01:04:50Well, she's back in town, too.
01:04:52And she has read all of your books.
01:04:54Oh.
01:04:55She's dying to see you.
01:04:56Oh.
01:04:57You've got to come with me.
01:04:58Sorry, Bryson.
01:04:59Yeah.
01:05:00Meet me at the beach later. Short cut.
01:05:04Just a joke?
01:05:05Sure.
01:05:18And... set.
01:05:33Okay.
01:06:04Oh, my God.
01:06:06Oh, my God.
01:06:08Oh, my God.
01:06:21Hi.
01:06:25Hi.
01:06:33Hi.
01:06:54Arian!
01:07:04Drew.
01:07:05Well?
01:07:08Well, what?
01:07:09What did you think?
01:07:11What did I think about what?
01:07:12The first 20 chapters. What did you think?
01:07:15Send them to me and I'll let you know.
01:07:16You sent them last night.
01:07:22I don't have them.
01:07:24Funny. Ha ha.
01:07:25I'm not joking. It's not here.
01:07:26Huck.
01:07:27What? It's not here.
01:07:29Huck.
01:07:30Huck.
01:07:31Huck.
01:07:33Hold on.
01:07:37Oh, no.
01:07:38What?
01:07:40What? What happened?
01:07:41Did you lose it?
01:07:42Oh, please tell me you didn't lose it.
01:07:43No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
01:07:46Drew!
01:07:48Instead of sending it to Huck Kramer, I sent it to Marion Cranberry.
01:07:51Marion!
01:07:52C-R-A. Cranberry.
01:07:54Oh.
01:07:55Whatever.
01:08:00I gotta go.
01:08:03No.
01:08:04Mama?
01:08:06Mama?
01:08:16So now we know why you finally came home after all these years.
01:08:20Oh, just let me explain.
01:08:23Thanks to you, my husband now thinks that I'm going to run off to a foreign country and marry a count or a duke or something like that.
01:08:30Okay.
01:08:31Yeah, and all those kids who just thought that I was the weird new kid have even more reason to think that.
01:08:39Honey, I don't hate being the person that everyone turns to.
01:08:44I love it.
01:08:46I told you that.
01:08:48I really do.
01:08:50I didn't mean to send the manuscript.
01:08:53It was supposed to go to my agent, Huck Kramer, not Marion Cranberry.
01:08:57There was a C-R-A thing in the-
01:09:00So when were we going to find out?
01:09:03After it was published?
01:09:05No, what I mean is-
01:09:07We're family.
01:09:09You took the things we said and you twisted them all around.
01:09:13No.
01:09:14You made us all look like a bunch of backwoods hillbillies that needed to be rescued by the great Drusinda or Annaline or whatever your name is.
01:09:24Okay, okay.
01:09:25Okay.
01:09:26These were just a few pages of the book.
01:09:28Right?
01:09:29An early rough draft.
01:09:32I mean, I was planning to change the names and everything.
01:09:35Everyone's still going to know it's me.
01:09:37Everyone's going to know it's all of us.
01:09:39Is that why you came home?
01:09:41To make fools of us?
01:09:42So you could sell more books?
01:09:44No.
01:09:45No.
01:09:47Okay, yes, I came here to write.
01:09:50I didn't know I was going to write about all of you.
01:09:53It just happened.
01:09:58And it's not really about you.
01:09:59It's just a bunch of stupid characters.
01:10:03We're not characters, Drew.
01:10:07We're people.
01:10:08We are real people with real feelings.
01:10:14Can we just be mature adults here?
01:10:17What's the big deal?
01:10:19It's just a book.
01:10:20And it's not like any of y'all are famous.
01:10:22No one will ever know who it's about.
01:10:26We'll know.
01:10:30Peyton.
01:10:31Peyton.
01:10:35You're a writer, like me.
01:10:40You understand.
01:10:42Yeah.
01:10:44Yeah, I am a writer.
01:10:46Yeah, I am a writer.
01:10:49But I'm nothing like you.
01:10:52How could you do that to my dad?
01:10:57I trusted you.
01:11:00Mama.
01:11:16Okay.
01:11:34You're leaving.
01:11:35Nobody wants me here.
01:11:36The way I am.
01:11:38You included.
01:11:42Well, you know that's not true.
01:11:45If this happened back home in New York, nobody would even care.
01:11:48They'd just laugh it off, keep moving.
01:11:50I thought this was home.
01:11:54No, Drew.
01:11:55I always thought the reason you didn't want to come home
01:11:59was because you were salty about the way some of your friends treated you when you were younger.
01:12:05I had no idea.
01:12:07It was because you thought so little of us.
01:12:10That's not...
01:12:14People here, they don't think much of me either.
01:12:17After everything I've done in my career, my own hometown doesn't even care.
01:12:26Come here.
01:12:29Okay.
01:12:30Look at this.
01:12:34A writing scholarship set up in your name.
01:12:41The Drusinda Cassidyne Writing Center for Teen Authors.
01:12:46It's over at the Rec Center.
01:12:49I didn't know.
01:12:52Well, they kept calling you.
01:12:54For interviews, appearances.
01:12:58Even before you were Drusinda Cassidyne.
01:13:03You never responded.
01:13:06Not once.
01:13:07Didn't stop them from bragging about you.
01:13:09Look.
01:13:10See?
01:13:15See, Drew?
01:13:17No one here ever thought that you didn't fit in.
01:13:22No one but you.
01:13:26And I'll tell you what.
01:13:29Until you understand that
01:13:32and believe it in your heart,
01:13:35you're just going to keep on running.
01:13:38You and Annaline.
01:13:41Mama.
01:13:44Come on.
01:13:45Hi, you've reached Bryson Twinsley.
01:13:48Please pick up.
01:13:49Bryson, pick up.
01:13:50Bryson, pick up.
01:13:51Bryson, pick up.
01:13:53Hi, you've reached Bryson Twinsley.
01:14:05Hi, you've reached Bryson Twinsley.
01:14:35Hi, you've reached Bryson Twinsley.
01:15:06Hi.
01:15:15On the surface, he seems tough.
01:15:18But once you get to know him,
01:15:21then again, he's just a grieving widower.
01:15:25Tormented by regret.
01:15:28And his failings as a father and a husband.
01:15:32Bryson.
01:15:37I'm sorry.
01:15:39I'm so sorry.
01:15:41Yeah.
01:15:43You're sorry.
01:15:49These, um...
01:15:51These are your paintings?
01:15:55Why didn't you tell me?
01:15:58What would you have done with it, huh?
01:16:00Use it as material in your book.
01:16:05I said I was sorry.
01:16:10Then I guess there's nothing else to say.
01:16:30Bryson.
01:17:00Dearest Peyton,
01:17:02For the first time in my life,
01:17:04I can't quite find the words to describe
01:17:07the feeling of being part of a family.
01:17:10I'm so sorry.
01:17:12I'm so sorry.
01:17:14I'm so sorry.
01:17:16I'm so sorry.
01:17:18I'm so sorry.
01:17:20I'm so sorry.
01:17:22I'm so sorry.
01:17:24I'm so sorry.
01:17:26I'm so sorry.
01:17:28I'm so sorry.
01:17:30I don't need to say what I need to say.
01:17:33Let me start by saying
01:17:36I'm sorry.
01:17:39Believe it or not,
01:17:41you inspired me and taught me far more than I could ever teach you.
01:17:46Enclosed is a new book titled Love Found at Sea.
01:17:50The story I wrote for me.
01:17:52And you.
01:17:54And your father.
01:17:56And my mom.
01:17:58And all of Harbor Point.
01:18:18Hi.
01:18:19Hi.
01:18:21Salmon and broccoli, right?
01:18:23How about a slice of pepperoni and meatball?
01:18:25That's a good choice.
01:18:29And a water.
01:18:30Pizza and water?
01:18:31Big water.
01:18:32You've got it.
01:18:34Jacinda!
01:18:45What do you want?
01:18:46Glad I ran into you.
01:18:48Will you sit with me, please?
01:18:50Please?
01:18:55Fletcher.
01:18:56I read your new book.
01:18:59Okay.
01:19:00I only sent Rowena a few chapters.
01:19:02I didn't get it from Rowena.
01:19:03I got it from someone named Peyton.
01:19:07It's great.
01:19:08It's your best work.
01:19:10Much better than the pages Rowena sent me.
01:19:12She doesn't publish it.
01:19:13She's a fool.
01:19:15Really?
01:19:18It's rich.
01:19:19It's honest.
01:19:21Happy, sad.
01:19:22Introspective.
01:19:25Full of life.
01:19:27Full of love.
01:19:29For the first time, I think you've given Adeline real feelings.
01:19:34Real pain.
01:19:35Real joy.
01:19:37And for the first time, I think she's really in love.
01:19:41Yeah.
01:19:43Good for Adeline.
01:19:50One more thing.
01:19:51Please don't let Adeline run away this time.
01:19:56And if she does,
01:19:58dead,
01:20:01I hope she goes back.
01:20:04I hope she has a happy ending.
01:20:09Yeah, me too.
01:20:17I really...
01:20:21You're welcome.
01:20:25Merry Christmas.
01:20:35Merry Christmas Eve.
01:20:40Mama!
01:20:42Mama!
01:20:47Mama!
01:20:50Mama!
01:20:55Mama!
01:21:25Mama!
01:21:30Well, we just completed our Bicentennial Christmas Boat Parade,
01:21:34and it was spectacular.
01:21:45You know, when I first arrived in Harbor Point,
01:21:48I thought a lot of the traditions here were a little...
01:21:51wacky.
01:21:53Perhaps you've noticed what I'm wearing.
01:21:55Then I learned the history behind the traditions,
01:21:58and everything changed.
01:22:00200 years ago,
01:22:02Hancock Birch
01:22:04was lost at sea on Christmas Eve.
01:22:06He was lost because the lighthouse had burned out,
01:22:09and he couldn't find his way back to shore.
01:22:11So every man, woman, and child,
01:22:13they grabbed lanterns and candles,
01:22:15they raced to their boats,
01:22:17and they lined them up
01:22:19from the shore
01:22:20all the way out to the middle of the ocean
01:22:22so he could find his way back home.
01:22:25And it was a great rescue mission.
01:22:28But it was so much more than that.
01:22:31Because
01:22:33it reminds us that
01:22:35we all get lost sometimes.
01:22:37We lose hope.
01:22:39We feel alone or afraid,
01:22:42and all we want to do is run away.
01:22:44And sometimes it takes the help of others,
01:22:47a human parade, if you will,
01:22:50to help bring us back home.
01:22:51In the middle of our town square rests a bell,
01:22:54and it was used to call out
01:22:56to weary travelers,
01:22:58to call them home.
01:23:00We all wander, we all get lost.
01:23:02And that bell, and the plaque, and the scripture
01:23:05remind us all that if we call out,
01:23:08we will be saved.
01:23:10And that's how we find hope.
01:23:12It's how we move past our pain,
01:23:14how we accept a helping hand,
01:23:17how we find love,
01:23:19how we accept love from others.
01:23:22So no matter what or who you may have lost,
01:23:26there is always someone waiting
01:23:29to help guide your heart back to shore.
01:23:33I want to thank you, Harbor Point,
01:23:35for guiding me and my daughter back to safety.
01:23:39And I pray that your lighthouse
01:23:41will always be a shining beacon
01:23:44to those who just want to come back home.
01:23:46Merry Christmas.
01:23:56Well, thank you, Bryson Flynn,
01:23:58for those good...
01:23:59Merry Christmas.
01:24:01Merry Christmas.
01:24:03Merry Christmas.
01:24:05Merry Christmas.
01:24:07Merry Christmas.
01:24:09Merry Christmas.
01:24:11Merry Christmas.
01:24:13Merry Christmas.
01:24:15Merry Christmas.
01:24:17Merry Christmas.
01:24:19Merry Christmas.
01:24:21Merry Christmas.
01:24:23Merry Christmas.
01:24:25Merry Christmas.
01:24:27Merry Christmas.
01:24:29I just wanted to say to everybody,
01:24:34I'm so sorry for ignoring you all.
01:24:38I'm proud to be from Harbor Point,
01:24:42and I hope you'll forgive me.
01:24:44And I am.
01:24:46I want to come home.
01:24:48I'm sorry.
01:24:50Hush. Hush.
01:24:52It's okay.
01:24:54It's okay.
01:24:56We're family.
01:24:58Family forgives.
01:25:06Okay.
01:25:11Sorry about this.
01:25:14Oh, come all ye faithful,
01:25:19joyful and triumphant.
01:25:22Oh, come ye, oh, come ye to Bethlehem.
01:25:32Come and behold Him,
01:25:37born the King of angels.
01:25:41Oh, come let us adore Him.
01:25:45Oh, come let us adore Him.
01:25:49Oh, come let us adore Him,
01:25:54Christ the Lord.
01:25:58Sing, choirs of angels.
01:26:03Sing in exultation.
01:26:10I'm so glad you came home.
01:26:15I'm happy to be home, Mama.
01:26:19I'm just gonna, um...
01:26:22Glory in the highest.
01:26:26Oh, come let us adore Him.
01:26:31Oh, come let us adore Him.
01:26:35I was, um...
01:26:37I was so awful.
01:26:39And you should never forgive me.
01:26:44I don't expect you to.
01:26:49I'm sorry.
01:26:56So, you know, I was thinking of taking the boat out tomorrow and...
01:27:08You could really use a first mate.
01:27:12Aye, aye, Captain.
01:27:19Merry Christmas, Jacinda.
01:27:22Merry Christmas, Bryson Flynn.
01:27:27At long last, Annaline found what she'd been looking for all these years.
01:27:33No more running.
01:27:35No more heartache.
01:27:38At last, she was loved.
01:27:42At last, she was home.
01:27:48At last, she was home.
01:27:51At last, she was home.
01:27:55At last, she was home.
01:28:18At last, she was home.
