00:00Submarine drones able to operate on the bottom of the sea in complete autonomy that use artificial intelligence is the program IDRON of Saipem, a leading company in offshore and onshore engineering that, with the IDRON-R patent, was selected for the Italy patent exhibition,
00:21mentions and successful innovations, organized by the MIMIT, the Ministry of Enterprise of the MID in Italy, to celebrate the 140th anniversary of the foundation of the Italian office of patents and brands.
00:32IDRON-R appears in the C-TECH section of the exhibition hosted at Palazzo Piacentini in Rome, the headquarters of the MIMIT.
00:39It is a program of realization, industrialization and production of underwater drones, autonomous, resident.
00:48Drones designed for inspection and intervention activities on underwater critical infrastructures located up to 3,000 meters deep.
00:56The IDRON are able to operate continuously up to 12 months in wireless mode, alternating 12 hours of work to 12 hours of recharge with docking stations placed on the bottom.
01:07This is an important project because Saipem is the only Italian company to have industrialized products and to have already commercialized and in use this type of advanced technologies.
01:20IDRON is a project of Sonsub, the center of excellence of Saipem for the development and industrialization of underwater technologies and solutions, based in Marghera and Trieste in Italy and in Aberdeen in the United Kingdom.
01:33Trieste is the real gym where we have the possibility to make our drones and our underwater robots exercise to prepare them for their missions.
01:48The industrialization and engineering part takes place in Marghera and we also have a center in Aberdeen, Scotland, which coordinates the use of these technologies.
02:00Born from the need of Saipem to work in great depth to install ducts on the bottom of the sea, IDRON and IDRON today take on a relevant importance,
02:09also in terms of surveillance of critical ports and infrastructures, in the monitoring activities of marine biodiversity and in the environmental monitoring campaigns,
02:18in the protection of archaeological sites in deep water and in the routine activities of mapping the bottom.
02:23At the moment they are already used by one of our clients in Norway, they are used in a project in Qatar and we are studying further evolutions,
02:35also together with the Navy, for the use and use, for the protection of critical port infrastructures.
