Joe Burrow Reacts to Bengals' Win Over Cowboys
Transcript
00:00That's what y'all are able to do when y'all are playing at the highest level you possibly can.
00:04I think we can continue to improve. I think we can be better than we were tonight after the interception.
00:10We missed on a goal ball down the left sideline on that two-minute dribble.
00:15So there's always more to be done.
00:17Does that feel like a sliver of silver lining given how the season goes even as well as y'all play?
00:22Do you feel like there's still another level for both y'all to do?
00:25Yeah, I think as we continue to grow and play together, we're going to keep continuing to find new levels to our game.
00:35We're going to continue to talk through all these reps that we're getting.
00:38We're going to learn from those and grow from those and get better.
00:41That's playing football.
00:42The guy's the best receiver in the league. He gets 15 targets.
00:46How does that happen? Do they take something else away? Do they let him be available like that?
00:52When you have T out there, it makes teams play a little honest.
00:57Teams are going to mix up the coverages against us. They always do.
01:01I think our coaches are some of the best in the league at identifying what teams are trying to do to us and adjusting on the fly.
01:08And I'm always really confident in my ability to read and react to what I'm seeing.
01:13So the way teams play us is they're going to mix up a lot of different defenses.
01:17They're going to blitz. They're going to drop. They're going to play double.
01:20They're going to do a lot of different things.
01:22And coming into this game, I was going to feed Jamar.
01:26I felt him last week. He had some opportunities last week that we didn't quite take advantage of.
01:35So I was just going to make sure if I got an opportunity with him, I was going to give it to him.
01:40Is there any extra meaning walking out as captains with T and Jamar tonight?
01:46I don't know. It was fun. That was the first time we had done that.
01:49I like that trio right there.
01:52We've played a lot of football together, made a lot of plays, scored a lot of touchdowns, won a lot of games.
01:57That was three years. Some of the best at what we do.
02:05And we're great friends and continue to love playing with each other.
02:09So I realized that in a moment. That was kind of a cool moment.
02:14That's something, Zach, that's why he doesn't usually do that.
02:17Usually it's most of the captains out there. That's the first time.
02:19Was that any kind of a message to you right there?
02:21I don't know. I don't know. But I liked it.
02:24Do you come out of a game like this and just say, give Jamar Chase however much money he wants?
02:30I've been saying that for a long time.
02:33He's a special player. He continues to make plays after the catch, before the catch.
02:41Any way that you get him the ball, he makes plays. He deserves all he's going to get in the world.
02:48Could you ever imagine a world not playing with Jamar Chase? You haven't really had that.
02:53I haven't had that. I don't want to have that.
02:56We feed off of each other. We make each other better.
03:04We're both really smart players.
03:07It's tough to take that away when you have a really smart receiver like that,
03:13that you can move around and do a lot of different things with.
03:17Hopefully we can play together for as long as we're in this league together.
03:23Obviously we all know the contract situation with Tee and what's going forward.
03:27How much do you think about cherishing all those moments, not knowing what the future might hold?
03:33How long that dream is going to be?
03:35We don't know.
03:39Those discussions are ongoing.
03:43I'm confident that we're going to be able to do what it takes to bring Tee back.
03:52I know that I'm going to do what it takes to get him back.
03:55As he had those talks, those are going to be discussions.
04:00I think we're excited about that.
04:02What gives you that confidence that you'd be able to get Tee back based on what's gone on so far?
04:08We'll see.
04:10How pivotal is that to what all of y'all feel is out of him,
04:14whatever it's going to take to keep him in the building for as long as possible?
04:18You feel his presence when he's out there.
04:21You feel his presence. You feel how it affects the defense.
04:24You feel how it affects the defensive coordinator's calls.
04:28Even if he's not super productive on a night, teams have to worry about him.
04:36You feel his presence. The defense is worried about him.
04:39How do you feel about that?
04:41His first touchdown looked simple, too.
04:45That was basically he beat the guy and said, hey, you can get out of the tight end.
04:49Yeah, it looked simple.
04:50That was tough to execute.
04:51That's a timing route that we worked on a lot that is not easy.
05:00He made a great catch and fizzled off the top of his route,
05:04but that's one that you have to throw on time and to the right spot.
05:09That's something that we worked a lot, so it's nice to see that executed.
05:13Thanks, guys.
