Julian Dennison on The Hunt for the Wilderpeople

00:00Julian Dennison, actor from the wildly successful film The Hunt for the Wilder People, came

00:09to Dubai for a screening of the movie.

00:11The film has won awards from around the world and has been brought to Dubai as part of the

00:14Dubai Film Festival's Road to Diff initiative.

00:17There's adventure, there's tanks, there's guns, there's just craziness happens in the

00:23bush but it's really funny, it's really sad and then that's pretty much the film and I'm

00:30not going to say anymore because then you would probably know what the film is.

00:33Dennison stars alongside actor Sam Neill in The Hunt for the Wilder People and the hours

00:37spent developing the bond between their characters has translated into a good friendship in real

00:41life.

00:42Yeah we would just rehearse in this big room, all of the cast would rehearse and we would

00:46do some of the more emotional scenes for about a week before we started filming and that's

00:51what I really wanted us to get that Ricky Baker and Hector bond so that's how we had

00:57to spend a lot of time with each other and to get that bond going so that was really

01:01great and just now calling him a friend, it's a big pleasure to call him a friend and that

01:08he calls me a friend is amazing.

01:10The film has launched young Dennison's career to new heights but he remains humble in the

01:14face of his newfound fame.

01:16What makes me really happy is when you see kids on the street, like little kids who run

01:20up to you and they go like, are you Ricky Baker and I'm like yes and then they don't

01:27say anything and then they just run off and then you see them come back with their parents

01:31and they're like could you take a photo and I'm like sure so it's great and I also love

01:35it when people, they recognise you as the character but they say you're a good person

01:40not just a good actor.

01:41The movie is New Zealand's highest grossing film to date and hits theatres in the UAE

01:45today for general audiences.
