00:16We are joined by the newly re-elected president of the Philippine Olympic Committee

00:21and Tagaytay City Mayor, Mr. Abraham Bambol Tolentino.

00:25Sir, welcome to the program.

00:27Thank you. Good morning to all of you.

00:30Sir, obviously, you were re-elected as the president,

00:34as the leader of the Philippine Olympic Committee,

00:38and it was really a landslide victory for you.

00:4045 votes to 15.

00:42And we can see that the trust of the NSA is there in your leadership.

00:47So, what can we say about that, President?

00:50First, I would like to thank those who helped and supported me.

00:55I am saying that this is not for me.

00:58This is not for the POC.

01:00This is for the athletes and for the country.

01:03So, with that result, the General Assembly spoke

01:08about who is really worthy.

01:11So, based on our performance in the past four years,

01:15that is the result.

01:18That is why they trusted you.

01:22President Bambol, I am sure you have already talked to the leaders of the NSA

01:26after your re-election.

01:28But can you just share with us what you told them when it comes to

01:33the trust that they gave you?

01:36Yes, definitely.

01:38We will sustain what we are doing.

01:43And we will improve because we learned a lot of lessons.

01:49We learned a lot.

01:50We went through a lot of challenges.

01:53Not only the Olympics, but all the international competitions.

01:57We started with Manungkulan.

02:00President, when we were elected, can you just share with us,

02:05obviously this is an extension of your term,

02:07but what is our first order of business as a re-elected president?

02:11We need to be prepared.

02:13We were busy with the elections.

02:16We were focused, but we need to be prepared.

02:20We need to coordinate with the Philippine Sports Commission.

02:23By next year, after these holidays,

02:25we will have a lot of competitions, international competitions.

02:29Aside from the local competitions,

02:32our international competitions are important.

02:34Earlier in February, we had the Harbin Asian Winter Games.

02:39You might be surprised because it was winter,

02:41but there were Filipinos participating.

02:43They participated in speed skates, ski, curling, figure skating.

02:48That is one of the things we are developing and improving.

02:52After that, by next year, we will have the Ski Games in Thailand.

02:57Before that, we might have the IMAG in suspense.

03:01The Asian Indoor Martial Arts Games.

03:03We also have Esports in the Olympics in Saudi Arabia.

03:06After that, in 2026, the Asian Games.

03:09We have a lot of responsibilities there,

03:11especially in basketball.

03:13We need to defend the number one in Asia.

03:16We might forget that.

03:18So that will be in 2026 in Nagoya.

03:21But the Winter Olympics might be the first in 2026,

03:25in Fortuna, Italy, Milan.

03:28Then in 2027, another major, the SEA Games again in Malaysia.

03:32In 2025, we still have the World Asian Youth Games in Bahrain.

03:42It will go into qualifying.

03:44It will go to the LA Olympics.

03:46So everything will build up to the LA Olympics.

04:04and responsibilities for our POC.

04:08But let's go back to the Philippines' performance in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

04:15Obviously, historically, this is the largest medal hole.

04:19And this is the historic first time that we have a double gold.

04:23What is your assessment of our campaign?

04:26What went right for our athletes?

04:29Aside from the medalists, many are competitive in the Paris Olympics.

04:35We need lots of exposures and training for this LA.

04:40The preparation is still long.

04:42So we need to take advantage of the time.

04:45And with the support of different stakeholders and the government, of course.

04:51Especially if we have a permanent office.

04:55So I'll push for that.

04:59We don't have a permanent office where we can have a meeting room, planning, etc.

05:07War room or what.

05:09So that's very important.

05:10But that's in the works, President.

05:12Yes, I hope we can start negotiations through the office of the First Lady.

05:20After a hundred years, the Philippine Olympic Committee still doesn't have a permanent office.

05:26As we wind down, last couple of questions.

05:29First, our boxing is very reliable when it comes to giving the Philippines medals.

05:36Do we have any news about the boxing stadium heading into LA 2028?

05:41I'm sure it will be included in LA 2028.

05:45Even though we're still in limbo, we're continuously training and looking for other grass roots and other new talents.

06:01We're fighting for it to be included.

06:04We're campaigning and lobbying for it to be included in LA Olympics.

06:09Lastly, what is our message to our countrymen and supporters of our athletes?

06:15Keep on supporting.

06:17If we don't see any talents, just tell us.

06:22Especially those in the far-flung provinces and other Philippines or European Filipinos.

06:31Those who are far away that we can't discover.

06:34It's a big help and inspiration to other athletes.
