00:00The first edition of the One Health Ambassador project, promoted by Boehringer Ingelheim
00:09in collaboration with HEDRA, ended with the awarding event to the Senate of the Republic.
00:14The initiative, which involved doctors of general medicine, pharmacists and veterinarians,
00:19aims to promote an integrated and multidisciplinary approach to health, emphasizing the interconnection
00:25between human, animal and environmental health.
00:27We have certainly noticed the need to increase training,
00:32ensuring better alignment between professions.
00:36As we say, One Health is for everyone.
00:39It is not a good thing, but a necessity, and therefore we must continue to make sense of it.
00:47The project, launched in spring, mapped out virtuous practices
00:50and identified professions that apply the One Health model on a daily basis,
00:55considered essential to face challenges such as zoonoses, emerging diseases and antibiotic resistance.
01:02Of the 101 awarded, 55% are veterinarians, almost 28% pharmacists and almost 17% doctors of general medicine.
01:11The most represented regions are Lombardy, Lazio and Emilia-Romagna,
01:15but gaps have emerged in areas at high risk of zoonoses, suggesting a lower local sensitivity.
01:21The approach is now known to everyone, it is a holistic approach, a system approach,
01:26an approach that involves environment, therapies, early diagnosis, early and effective care, precision medicine.
01:36In short, all topics, all themes that open up challenging and very innovative scenarios.
01:42Health professions are all transversely involved in this logic,
01:48because I remember the logic that underlies the PNRR.
01:55The report, linked to the initiative, has highlighted the need to intensify training and interprofessional collaboration.
02:02Veterinarian and pharmacists have expressed the desire to work in greater synergy,
02:06also through the support of institutions and scientific societies.
02:10However, criticisms have emerged, including a lack of knowledge of zoonoses by many basic doctors
02:16and the need for a greater use of tools such as the antibiogram to combat resistance to antibiotics.
02:22Only in this circularity can we have a better approach to the protection of our health.
02:28Clearly, for this, however, there is a need for awareness from all citizens
02:32and public opinion, which then encourages and promotes policies.
02:37Events such as this serve to circulate the ideas of this approach between human health, animal health and the ecosystem, which is fundamental.
02:47The initiative has also emphasized the importance of raising awareness among the general public and the new generations on the One Health approach.
02:54The aim is to encourage cultural change and promote collaboration between professionals to build an integrated health system.
