00:06will benefit from a new multipurpose building funded by the DSWD Kalahi CIDSS Pamana Project.

00:20The Department of Social Welfare and Development, through its Kalahi Seeds Pamana Project,

00:25recently completed a new multipurpose building in Barangay Monteclaro, San Jose, in Occidental Mindoro

00:32that will benefit more than 3,000 Mangyan IPs in the area.

00:36The building, called Balay Fagdayunan at Fanultulan, is a 49-square-meter facility

00:41that will serve as a community meeting hall and trade center.

00:45The P1.2 million project, comprising the DSWD Kalahi grant and in-kind donations

00:50from the Municipal and Barangay LGU also included furnishings such as chairs, electric fans, lights, and bathrooms.

00:58The community proposed this project to the DSWD Kalahi CIDSS Pamana as their tribemates from far-flung sitios

01:05needs a place to rest after hours of travel just to reach the town proper for trade.

01:10The new building will also serve as bagsakan for IPs agri-products, especially for those who live far from the community.

01:17We know that the lack of access in far-flung areas, such as in GIDAS or other areas,

01:24is one of the propaganda used by the enemies against us.

01:28So this is a big help, especially to our brothers and sisters.

01:32A turnover ceremony for the project was conducted on November 27.

01:37During the activity, San Jose Mayor Ray C. Ladaga, representatives from the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples,

01:44and the Philippine Army were present.

01:46The project empowers and capacitates the community to lead in problem-solving

01:51and lets them handle all the processes for the project to foster good governance.
