UAE National Day 2020: Why I love the UAE
Transcript
00:00We eat the sun, sand, or just the positive vibes that the UAE gives out.
00:10Expatriates love this place.
00:12We spoke to a number of expats to ask them just what it is that they love about the UAE
00:18so much.
00:19Take a look at what they had to say.
00:21It brings people together from different countries, from different cultures, the events.
00:26Even though during quarantine, we can still manage to celebrate this national day together.
00:32I just love it, the energy, the cultures, the people, the happiness, the joy of everything.
00:38It's just amazing.
00:39Living in the UAE, for me, it's the most amazing and unique experience that I have not seen
00:45anywhere else in the world.
00:47If I want to sum it up, it would be to these three main points.
00:51Diversity, where you can find more than 100 nationalities with a different background
00:57all living in harmony.
00:59Tolerance, where you feel respected and appreciated.
01:03Sports, being an athlete in a country where activities and sports are highly supported
01:09and encouraged on the state level.
01:11Thank you, UAE.
01:13What I like about living in the UAE is first and foremost, the safety.
01:17You know, it's wonderful to stay here.
01:19You can go anywhere you want to.
01:21You can walk outside with your mobile phone, you don't have to worry about being mugged.
01:25As a woman, I feel so protected here.
01:29And even if I travel or walk alone in the street, I feel so safe.
01:35And then there's a lot that protects women's rights.
01:38It's one of the most beautiful destinations you would have ever seen.
01:42You have the traditional culture available over here and you have the modern life availability
01:47over here.
01:48The environment is outstanding and it is equally treated for all the religions, all the nationalities.
01:55It's a beautiful city, much affordable city with amazing tourist destinations.
02:00We are living together with many cultures, nationalities, very friendly and we like each
02:06other without any problem.
02:08I love Dubai and we are very enjoying Dubai.
02:12It always feels like home here.
02:14I never felt a stranger.
02:15I never felt an outsider, even though I'm a third culture kid.
02:18I've been seeing love and kindness since day one.
02:21I've been seeing achievements, successful initiatives taken by leaders.
02:25From Sheikh Zayed, Sheikh Mohammed passing on to Fazza, how did they do that in a very
02:30short time?
02:31How did they change everything?
02:32How did they change the land from a desert to a must-visit destination?
02:37It's just mind-blowing.
02:39Thinking about it makes me feel lucky enough that I've witnessed it all.
02:44I've seen it all.
02:45I've seen it how it was before and how it is now.
02:47As a female, I love living in the UAE because I feel safe.
02:52I also feel empowered to fulfill my dreams.
02:56I love interacting with the different cultures and nationalities from around the world.
03:01It's only been eight months since we've moved to the UAE with my family.
03:05We are very happy to be here and the reason that we moved from India to the UAE is because
03:10it's one of the safest places to be.
03:12It's one of the only places in the world that opens its arms to all the expats from around
03:17the world and gives them a chance to be successful and happy at the same time.
03:21Why do I like to celebrate National Day in Dubai?
03:24Because Dubai puts on the best show ever in the entire world, always with safety in mind.
03:31So I don't know if 2020, with COVID measures, we will be able to celebrate in the same way,
03:36but I do know that Dubai is always going to have some sort of surprise for all of us and
03:42give us an opportunity to bring all our different nationalities together as one country.
03:48My family and I are celebrating our 12th National Day here.
03:53Why are we still here?
03:54Why do we love it so much?
03:56I don't know.
03:57There's a lot of reasons and for all the things that are going wrong in 2020, Dubai once again
04:03has gotten something right.
04:05We're all tested and anybody who might be a new case is in quarantine and the rest of
04:11the town is open for business.
04:13I'm waiting for my son to come out of school and we're living a normal life.
04:16What I love about Dubai is the fact that it's multicultural and inclusive.
04:21It provides you a world of opportunities and activities that you can indulge in, right
04:26from kite surfing to biking to trekking to even ice skating.
04:32You meet new people here from all over the world.
04:35You try different cuisines, discover new flavours, learn about different languages,
04:41cultures and traditions.
04:44It is a place where each and every individual and community is celebrated.
04:50It's a place where you discover yourself and you be yourself.
04:54I love the UAE because it's my country.
04:56I love it for its peace, prosperity and tolerance in this multicultural, forward-thinking, ongoing nation.
05:04I was born and raised in the UAE, so I've been here for 25 years and one of my favourite
05:08things about this place is that it's just so international.
05:12So even during my school and all of that, we got exposure to different nationalities,
05:16different cultures, different traditions, which was fantastic.
05:19So that's definitely one of my favourite, favourite, favourite things about the UAE.
05:24It hosts so many people from all over the world and there's no issues.
05:30Everyone seems to get along pretty well and yeah, I love it.
05:32I love being here.
05:33I love the UAE for its peace, prosperity and tolerance in this multicultural, forward-thinking nation.
05:40Well, it's hard to tell one specific reason why I love UAE or call it as my second home.
05:46But apart from the fact that it's such a beautiful country with very clean and modern infrastructure,
05:55with the modernity and the heritage on one side, I think it's the people that welcome
06:01people here as more than guests.
06:03I know a very like a guest and I'm privileged to live here for the last 10 years and very
06:09happy to call it my second home.
06:11And I wish everybody a very happy UAE National Day.
