00:00Oh my gosh, you look so incredible.
00:02Thank you, so do you.
00:04Oh, you know, we have to. It's a breakfast gala.
00:07Yes, I'm wearing Vida Hoft, even though it's a breakfast gala. I came with gloves, honey.
00:11You have to, you have to.
00:13This is one thing, we're going to show up and we're going to show out.
00:15That's right, especially if you get us up this early.
00:18A hundred percent.
00:19Listen, we're in a room with such incredible women, yourself included.
00:22What is it like to be a part of this sisterhood right now?
00:25Oh, it's great, especially because it's honest and true.
00:28I'm seeing women that I love, like Kerry Washington, who just got her star,
00:32and Natasha Rothwell, who has her show on Hulu.
00:34It's a day to really celebrate women.
00:37And then also women that I haven't met yet, like Selena Gomez and Nicole Kidman.
00:41I'm really inspired by them being moguls and doing their thing.
00:45So it's a day of inspiration and celebration.
00:48Speaking of sisterhood and women empowerment,
00:51your friend and your Broadway co-star, Cynthia Erivo,
00:55she's been having the year of her life with Wicked right now.
00:58Have you been able to see it?
00:59And how proud are you of her seeing her on screen in that role?
01:02Of course I went to go see Wicked, of course!
01:05I was there actually with one of our other co-stars from Color Purple on Broadway,
01:10and we just bawled our eyes out.
01:12And I called her immediately, and we FaceTimed,
01:14and I just was screaming over the phone,
01:16just so excited for her that she's having this moment,
01:18because that girl works hard.
01:20And even Ariana too, Ariana's killing it.
01:23She did an amazing job.
01:24And John Chu, everybody, everybody.
01:26It's such an incredible movie.
01:28What is another female-led performance that's come out in this past year
01:32that you really need everyone to see?
01:34Oh man, that's a good question.
01:37Gosh, I wish I could remember this movie.
01:39I just saw two things.
01:42What is the name?
01:45Um, what's...
01:50Oh my gosh, I'm blanking.
01:54I'm so mad about this.
01:57Pew. Florence Pew.
02:01We Live in Time?
02:02We Live in Time.
02:04I just watched her performance. We Live in Time.
02:07And Sister Girl did a phenomenal job.
02:09I was very proud of her too, because I don't think she's had kids at all.
02:12But she had a pregnancy scene where she delivered the baby,
02:15and I was like, go ahead, girl!
02:17That looked real! You acting!
02:19Because that's actually really hard to do.
02:21But they were wonderful, and she was wonderful.
02:24So that's a performance I definitely think is worth watching.
02:27And finally, we're of course also celebrating how far we've come
02:30as women in entertainment.
02:32What's one thing that you would tell your younger self
02:34about being a woman in entertainment?
02:37Well, for me, it's been amazing being a woman in entertainment
02:40because I, for the first time, have seen myself in this.
02:45There's a lot of women I've looked up to,
02:47but they didn't quite align.
02:50Maybe they were even too old, or maybe their skin wasn't as dark,
02:53or they weren't as curvy.
02:55So to be the person that I wanted to see growing up is so crucial.
02:58And now, knowing that I'm not the only one,
03:01there are so many women that look like me in Hollywood that are thriving,
03:04is really exciting.
03:06But y'all do need to pay us more. Thank you.
