00:00Max, congratulations, what a win here at the Valley. Firstly, can I get your overall assessment
00:05of the game?
00:06Yeah, I think the boys battled well. It wasn't a pretty game, I would say, for our standards.
00:12I think we kind of just battled away. It just showed that we could do two sides of the game,
00:15I think. And then when we got our foot on the ball, got a few passes together, I felt
00:19like we were able to control it a bit better, albeit it became a bit scrappy come parts
00:23of the game. But I think once we got the second goal, the boys held on and got the win.
00:29Great character, wasn't it? Because their goal came out of nowhere, I suppose. We were
00:35in control of the game and it's very easy for the lads to have their heads down after
00:39that and think how unlucky they are. But it just showed brilliant character, didn't it?
00:43Yeah, no, I think as a group we kind of have that belief in each other that we can just
00:47go again, keep positive once that goal goes in, one all. I think we're still looking to
00:51go forward, still trying to get that winner and not holding off, trying to hang on for
00:55the draw. I think we know we're better than what people give us credit. So I think
01:00for us, we just kept pushing on, trying to get that win and we did.
01:02Yeah, a poacher's finish from yourself. Jeremy, the keeper sort of pushed it to one side and
01:08it didn't look like anyone else was going to get there other than you. I think you read
01:10it so early. Is that something that you've been working on and talk us a little bit through
01:14the goal? Because you took it well, you still had a lot to do.
01:17Yeah, no, I think once Jeremy hit the shot, I think I kind of just gambled like any sort
01:23of player would do. Just gamble and hope you get lucky and this time I did, I think. Then
01:27once the ball landed to you, just put your foot through it for the best and it goes in.
01:31Yeah, Rob was just speaking to us there and he said that he's been playing you in a deeper
01:35role but he also sees you as an attacking player and I suppose you've proven that in
01:38a couple of games now you've scored against Huddersfield as well. So is that something
01:41you're looking forward to, playing slightly higher up the pitch?
01:43Yeah, no, I enjoy obviously getting involved in the attacks and trying to start passers-of-play
01:48and stuff as well. But I also like doing the other side of the game where obviously helping
01:51out the boys at the back and probably winning them chicken balls and jumping on and helping
01:55Jeremy out and stuff. So I think it's good to do both, I think. Trying to evolve my game
02:00as much as possible, get a few goals, assists. It's what anyone wants to do, is it?
02:05Yeah, a great bit of momentum we're building, as we said to Rob. Since the Northampton game,
02:08obviously that was one of our more disappointing results in performances of the season. Since
02:12then, we're unbeaten in the league. Obviously we lost to New York FA Cup on Saturday but
02:15it's a great bit of momentum we're putting forward. Two wins on the trot in the league
02:18as well.
02:18Yeah, no, I think that's correct. Just everyone in the squad, everyone in the team, I think
02:22that comes down to not just the starting line-up, it comes down to everyone amongst
02:25the team. I think that's just the togetherness we're creating so far. I think being hard to
02:30beat is one of our main goals, I think. Not crumbling under any sort of pressure and trying
02:35to just stay by each other. I think that's what's been working for us so far.
02:40Brilliant. We were saying on the commentary, after Tyler scored, we were saying it would
02:44have been great if that was at the other end. I hope the Crawley fans get a moment in the
02:47second half to celebrate. That was down to you. What was it like celebrating in front
02:50of them and scoring that goal?
02:51Unbelievable. They were incredible tonight. The numbers, the game, it was brilliant. They
02:57were loud the whole game. It was something else. I think they were able to liven this
03:03place up a bit more and helped us push for that win. They did. They got what they came
03:08for, I hope.
03:09And what's it like coming to grounds like this? Because it is a fantastic stadium, isn't
03:12it? And coming to grounds like this with the Crawley support and that and coming and getting
03:16a result, it's incredible, isn't it?
03:17Yes, I know. Obviously, the stadium is brilliant. You can see it here. But I think the Crawley
03:22fans were able to echo it, I think, and help us on. And they did. I hope they have a good
03:30night.
03:30Yes, and it was really good to see Rob Elliott celebrate with the fans there. How is he gelling
03:35this team together? Because it seems like a real togetherness in this team.
03:37Yes, I know. I think, obviously, there's stuff coming in. But I think it's been good so far.
03:42I think we're just trying to keep building on each win and each result that we've been
03:46getting so far. I think we're just trying to keep building, put layers on it and then
03:49hopefully we turn to a decent side. Well, we already are a team. So we've just got to
03:53keep building on that.
03:54Brilliant. Thanks a lot, Max.
