00:00It's a kind of antidote to...
00:02Love, actually. Feelings will be released.
00:04I don't think we were at our happiest, were we?
00:06No.
00:08We were a little...
00:09A little moody about that one.
00:11It's lovely to see you both.
00:13I have binged two episodes,
00:15and then I'm getting better at not going into the next ones
00:18because obviously when it comes out,
00:20everyone talks about it and I'm like, I've already seen it.
00:22So I binged two and I said, right, that's enough for now.
00:25You're not going to do any more?
00:27I want to do it when everyone else is watching it.
00:29Yeah, and also at Christmas.
00:31Exactly.
00:33It's a Christmas show.
00:35In a weird way.
00:37Which we love, I'm going to talk about that
00:39because we have to agree that Die Hard is a Christmas movie, right?
00:42So how does it feel that you're now offering up
00:44your own thriller series at Christmas as well?
00:48I mean, we are.
00:49And it is more in the Die Hard than the...
00:52Zone, yeah.
00:53Zone.
00:54Than the Love Actually zone.
00:56Shall we just say it?
00:57Yeah, the Love Actually zone.
00:58It's a kind of antidote to...
01:00Love Actually.
01:01Well, not to Love Actually, but to Christmas just generally.
01:03Yes, just generally.
01:04If you're feeling really angry with your family,
01:06then you watch this and, you know...
01:08You could release some feelings.
01:10Yeah, feelings will be released, you're right.
01:12If you want to watch Love Actually, you can then use this as the opposite.
01:15Exactly.
01:16Exactly, and that's what we need.
01:17But listen, obviously it's set around the Christmas period.
01:20When did you actually film this?
01:23Well, we did cover Christmas.
01:25We did.
01:26We filmed it for six months, so half of our year was Christmas,
01:29which did include the real Christmas.
01:31It did also stretch into March.
01:33Yes, and start in September.
01:35Yes.
01:36Yeah.
01:37And listen, I love the fact that you're both in your spy era.
01:40It's amazing.
01:41How cool was it getting to learn all the hand-to-hand combat
01:44and all the skills you need to be a spy?
01:46Yeah, it was fun. I did like that.
01:47I did as well. It was...
01:49We did lots of kind of boxing and jiu-jitsu
01:51and some sort of knife-fighting stuff
01:54and then obviously guns.
01:56Yeah.
01:57It was a lot of stuff, didn't we?
01:58Yeah, we did a lot of training.
02:00Yeah.
02:01And rehearsing.
02:02Yeah, and doing.
02:04And doing.
02:05And doing.
02:06You had to do a lot. You had to do more than me.
02:08I did, which I felt was unfair.
02:11And given that I didn't necessarily know I'd be doing that much at the beginning,
02:14I was like, there seems to be another fight scene.
02:18There's a fantastic fight scene that Ciara has in a jewellery shop.
02:21I do.
02:23Which was fun.
02:24Yeah.
02:25It was fun, yeah.
02:26But yes, there was more than anticipated.
02:29Well, episode two, I was worried about your welfare
02:32because, without spoiling it, there's a scene where it falls on a balcony
02:36and then a body of water.
02:37Oh, yeah.
02:38I thought, that looks cold.
02:39Wherever they are, it looks like it's freezing.
02:41They're soaking wet.
02:42How was that? Were you okay?
02:44It was the middle of the night in December.
02:47Where were we?
02:48In some godforsaken...
02:50It was somewhere coming out of a canal.
02:52It was not...
02:54I don't think we were at our happiest, were we?
02:57No.
02:58No.
02:59We were a little...
03:00A little moody about that one.
03:01A little moody.
03:03Yeah.
03:04Was it like a real canal then?
03:06So, actually, we did that over months.
03:08We did.
03:09We did that in various different...
03:10So we were soaking wet next to a canal, looking like we were coming out,
03:15but actually, where we were when we were in the water
03:18was in the middle of a rubbish dump.
03:20Was an industrial rubbish dump.
03:23Yeah.
03:24Probably in February.
03:26Yeah.
03:27I don't know what's worse then.
03:28No.
03:29We were questioning that, I think.
03:31We were rather wondering which one was worse.
03:34Yeah.
03:35Listen, I absolutely love the relationship between your two characters.
03:39It reminds me of one of the relationships I've got with one of my friends.
03:42I love the kind of loving insults that they throw at each other.
03:46Was that improvised?
03:47Was it in the writing?
03:48Did you make it up?
03:49Because there's lots of chemistry between you two as well.
03:51Yeah.
03:52It was in the writing.
03:53It's all...
03:54I don't think we made up a single thing.
03:55No.
03:56I think it was all in the writing.
03:57Hardly anything.
03:58Yeah.
03:59Joe is brilliant at that relationship, isn't he?
04:01The way he writes it.
04:02Yeah, and I think from episode one, because both of us,
04:04obviously, that's what we had to go on when we said yes,
04:07and that was what I was saying yesterday.
04:09But this amazing sort of platonic relationship at the centre of this is so nice
04:13because it's, I think, a relationship that I know in my own life
04:16that we all have in our own lives, but you very rarely see it on screen.
04:19Yeah.
04:20So it was really nice.
04:21Honestly, it was one of my favourite things about the whole thing.
04:24And obviously, like I say, I've stopped myself at two episodes.
04:26I'm getting much better at not just, like, binging it.
04:29But if this was on over Christmas, do you think you would binge it?
04:33Well, you wouldn't because you're not a binger.
04:35I could binge over Christmas.
04:37The one exception is Christmas.
04:38Okay, yeah.
04:39I'm a binger, so I'll binge at any time.
04:40Because it's really just the sofa and...
04:42Yeah.
04:43Bottle of wine.
04:44Bottle of wine.
04:45Yeah, no, I would.
04:47I think it would be really kind of pleasurable.
04:49Yeah.
04:50How do you feel about that,
04:51knowing that people are going to be watching over the festive period?
04:53Because it is a bit more intense because, obviously,
04:55that's the point where everybody settles down
04:57and they actually properly watch good telly, right?
04:59Mm.
05:00Mm.
05:01Do they?
05:02Is that what, sorry, is that, yeah?
05:03I think that people have nothing else to do
05:06except collapse in front of the telly.
05:08Yeah.
05:09Which is a strange pleasure.
05:10Yeah.
05:11Just giving yourself over.
05:12Yeah, but it's a pressure.
05:14It is a pressure because it's...
05:15Well, I hadn't thought of it before.
05:17Now that you've put it out there and you've put it like that, yeah.
05:20No, it's too late now anyway.
05:21It is too late.
05:22It is coming out and people will be watching.
05:24Hopefully.
05:25Hopefully, yeah.
05:26Well, honestly, it took me a lot of restraint to stop at the two episodes,
05:28so I think you're going to be absolutely fine.
05:30I think this is going to be really, really big.
05:32Thank you so much.
05:33Thank you very much.
05:34Lovely to see you both.
05:35Lovely to watch the rest of it.
