00:00Another incident of harassment by who else but the China Coast Guard on Filipino fishermen was reported anew.
00:07Despite this, authorities remain committed to provide assistance to fisherfolks.
00:12PTV's Vel Custodio has the full report.
00:17After receiving a report of the harassment by the China's People's Liberation Army or BLA Navy helicopter on fishermen in the West Philippine Sea last November 28,
00:26the Philippine Coast Guard or PCG immediately deployed BRP Cape Engaño and BRP Melchor Aquino with the PTV News team on board to resolve reef.
00:35While sailing to the West Philippine Sea, two China Coast Guard or CCG ships made a dangerous maneuver on the BRP Cape Engaño near the area of Escoda Shoal at around 7pm Saturday.
00:47Another interception was repeated at around 10pm.
00:50The CCG continuously tailed the PCG's ships where we are aboard throughout its voyage.
01:20But our Philippine Coast Guard commanding officers are always professional and very competent in terms of seamanship skills.
01:28We were able to prevent this kind of collision with the Chinese Coast Guard.
01:33The PCG arrived near Iroquois or Rizal Reef at around 6am yesterday where footage of BLA Navy helicopter was reportedly taken.
01:43Another dangerous maneuver was made by the China ships.
01:46More than 18 fishermen's boats are in Rizal Reef.
01:49The Philippine Coast Guard assisted the Filipino fishermen but not without a hard time getting near the PCG ships with the Chinese Coast Guard deliberately getting in the way.
01:59It was very dangerous.
02:00Just like last time, when we entered this area, we were immediately blocked.
02:09Was it frequent that you were blocked?
02:12It was frequent.
02:13Especially when we went there at night, we were transferred to another place.
02:16We were taken to the in-office dock.
02:20We were harassed.
02:22We were brought down by the rebels.
02:26We were forced to leave.
02:28The consecutive storm last month and the recent bad weather also added to the burden of the fishermen.
02:35They also reported that two Filipino fishing boats sank due to the bad weather.
02:43But all of the crew were rescued by other Filipino fishing boats.
02:49None of them were on the way or were lost.
02:52It is also very disappointing that our Filipino fishermen were also washed away.
02:59Despite the presence of China Coast Guard Vessel 5205 and the PLA Navy, the mere fact that they were able to fly an aircraft here,
03:11they were able to monitor the Filipino fishermen.
03:14When the two Filipino fishing boats sank, they did not offer any assistance to help the Filipino fishermen.
03:26Commodore Tariella added that China offered rescue.
03:29Nice try.
03:30But a day already passed after two boats sank.
03:33The moment we learned that there are Filipino mines in Iroquois Reef or Ruzuli,
03:40we will ensure that we are going to maintain our presence there to ensure the safety and security of our Filipino fishermen.
03:48It is a big help for us.
03:52If we are going to enter another area with the Filipino Coast Guard, we will do our best.
03:59The fishermen safely returned to their boats carrying the early Christmas packs from the PCG.
04:04On our route back to Palawan, the Chinese ship was still on our tail.
04:08It was around 7am when we left the Ruzuli Reef area, but at 6pm, the CCG ship approached our ship again.
04:16At around 9pm, we lost sight of the CCG and safely returned to the Bolivian port, Palawan.
04:22According to PCG, under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.,
04:27they will continue to maintain their presence to ensure the safety of the Filipino fishermen while they freely fish in the West Philippine Sea.
04:35From PTV, Vel Custodio, Balitang Pambansa.
