00:00A wage increase for minimum wage earners in Eastern Visayas takes effect to be implemented in two phases.
00:07Meanwhile, the Department of Labor and Employment will monitor establishments in the region to ensure compliance with the new wage order.

00:21Beginning today, December 2, the wage increase for workers in the private sector in Eastern Visayas takes effect.
00:28This is after the approval of the 30 pesos wage increase for minimum wage earners in the region.
00:34The wage increase will be implemented in two tranches.
00:37Attorney Dax Villaruel, Regional Director of the Department of Labor and Employment of Dole Region 8 assured
00:43that the agency's inspectors will be monitoring establishments to ensure compliance with the new wage order.
00:50All throughout the year, our inspectors will be monitoring establishments,
00:57including the big and small establishments, to determine compliance with the new minimum wage and occupational safety.
01:10Meanwhile, workers in the private sector have barred their actions to the wage increase.
01:16I am very happy because the wage increase.
01:21Employees like us have low wages, even thousands of pesos.
01:33I want the minimum wage to be higher.
01:41The minimum wage now is 30 pesos. It helps a lot.
01:48We lack income here.
01:54It would be better if we were increased, like construction workers.
02:02The wage increase also covers household workers.
02:06Currently, the daily minimum wage is 405 pesos, which will increase to 420 pesos today.
02:12In total, the minimum wage will reach 435 pesos if the second tranche is implemented in June next year.
