00:00At the same time of lighting the Christmas tree in Malacanang,
00:03President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.
00:06declared that all Filipinos should feel the joy of Christmas.
00:10The details in the national news of Alan Francisco of PTV Manila.
00:16It is a joyful time for all Filipinos.
00:20But as we celebrate, all I'd like is to ask you to hold the thought
00:26for all those people who up to now are trying to recover
00:31from the effects of the six typhoons that we suffered in 23 days.
00:37Many of them are still in shelters, many of them are still in need.
00:44And all of these disasters, like I just came and saw some victims of fires,
00:52all of these people, let's just keep them in mind and do what Filipinos do.
00:56Let's help each other.
00:57The Christmas message of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. to the Filipinos,
01:04especially to the victims of the typhoons, is simple but powerful.
01:07Last night, President Marcos, Jr. and First Lady Lisa Araneta Marcos
01:11were the first in the Christmas tree lighting,
01:14where the President also recognized the courage of the Filipinos
01:19who do not give up and continue to rise this upcoming Christmas.
01:24My Christmas wish is that despite everything,
01:30that every Filipino should feel somehow Christmas.
01:37Because after all, no matter how many typhoons they throw at us,
01:41no matter how many problems are thrown at us,
01:44there's nothing that will quench the Christmas spirit in the Filipino heart.
01:49And every child, man, woman, Filipino, you will not be able to remove that from the Philippines.
01:57Also included in the program is the recognition of those who shared in the past three years
02:02of one star, one smile.
02:04This is a nationwide lantern-making contest in different state colleges and universities in the country
02:10where the talent of the Filipinos in the craft of lantern-making is far-reaching.
02:15The winner received a million pesos, a laptop, and other gifts from the Grand Prize.
02:21Our theme this year is about hope and resiliency.
02:25So it's beautiful because the lanterns that everybody,
02:28that all the students made, we partnered with DepEd this year.
02:32The heart of Christmas was also lit,
02:34which is an hour of ballet by Alice Reyes Dance Performance.
02:38It was exciting to see the performances of Master Ryan Kayabiaba.
02:43My experience here is really, really good.
02:46So, in the ballet, I really liked it because my sister also dances,
02:54and also, I felt the spirit of Christmas.
02:58The performance of the people who performed on stage was so beautiful.
03:02It was so beautiful, they made me feel so proud.
03:04Christmas Caroling also gave the award to Father of Christmas Songs, Jose Marichana,
03:10along with the Filipino theater actress, Carla Laporteza.
03:15The event was a project of the Office of the President and the Social Secretary Office.
03:19From PTV, Alan Francisco, Balitang Pambansa.
