00:00Of course, Joel Bacos of UP Floorball Club and Daniel Nicole Aviles of AQC Women's Floorball Club
00:09to talk about the Philippine Floorball League. Good morning.
00:14Good morning.
00:17Good morning.
00:18Yes, there. Sir, Ma'am, for the information of our teammates,
00:24can you tell us or tell us what floorball is?
00:31Good morning to all of you. I'm Daniel Nicole Aviles.
00:37Floorball is an indoor sport.
00:43Basically, we use floorball stick and floorball equipment.
00:50There are five players, including the goalkeeper,
00:59or six players, including the goalkeeper.
01:05Basically, this is fast-paced.
01:09Our floorball is fast-paced.
01:13How is this sport different from hockey?
01:21The difference with hockey is that hockey is more on ice,
01:32and they have skates.
01:34Unlike floorball, they have rubber shoes and stick and ball.
01:41In hockey, we use equipment like ice rinks,
01:53while in floorball, we have jerseys, shorts, and rubber shoes.
02:00It's like playing basketball.
02:04Now, let's talk about how you started.
02:10In floorball, do you have a background in hockey?
02:13What made you decide to love this sport?
02:16Let's start with Ms. Daniel.
02:21I started playing floorball.
02:23Actually, there was a demo at our school,
02:29at Quezon City High School.
02:32My friend invited me to join the training.
02:38I didn't join the demo,
02:40but my friend who joined the demo invited me to join the training.
02:47I continued the training because I really liked floorball
02:54because it was new to me.
02:57It was new to me, so I was super interested in this sport.
03:04Let's talk about Mr. Joel.
03:07How did you start playing floorball?
03:09I started playing floorball when I was in 9th grade.
03:14There was also a demo at our school.
03:16The funny thing is, I didn't make it to the floorball demo.
03:22I was curious about the feeling of holding a stick and a dribbling ball.
03:29I made it to the floorball demo because I was curious about the feeling of holding a stick and a dribbling ball.
03:40Mr. Joel, Ms. Daniel,
03:42we mentioned earlier that the biggest difference between floorball and hockey is where you play.
03:50My question is, can floorball be played in existing sports facilities like basketball courts, volleyball courts,
04:03or does it have its own facilities?
04:10Of course, it can be played in basketball courts or volleyball courts.
04:15Actually, it can also be played on the beach.
04:18We have beach floorball that sometimes takes place on the beach.
04:25It can also be played at home.
04:31As long as the floor is flat.
04:33The floorball can be played on a flat surface.
04:35Because the blade can hit the road when you practice.
04:44Now, anyone can answer.
04:47For our teammates who are not familiar,
04:50please explain what the Philippine Floorball League is and who can join it.
04:59Basically, the Philippine Floorball League is a league here in the Philippines.
05:05The season starts from September until April.
05:11We have U-17s and Seniors.
05:15U-17s range from ages 15 or 14 to 16 years old.
05:25Seniors are 15 or 16 and above.
05:33Everyone can join the Philippine Floorball League.
05:43Actually, we have teams that start building floorball games for ages 9 years old or 6 years old.
06:01But in our league, we only have U-17s and Seniors.
06:09All right.
06:10That's very exciting.
06:12I'm sure we have a lot of teammates who are interested in it.
06:15But another topic we want to know is this floorball.
06:19Because we know that there are a lot of sports here in the Philippines that are not well-known,
06:23but our country dominates.
06:27Do you think this floorball has hope that the Philippines will also dominate in this sport?
06:35Yes, definitely.
06:37Yes, because in the last SEA Games in 2023, the Philippine Floorball League won a silver medal.
06:45And then if we focus on it,
06:49we Filipinos are fond of aggressive sports like running.
06:54And then if we focus on it,
06:57we Filipinos will level up to win a gold medal.
07:05And actually, there are Filipino athletes who compete internationally.
07:13For example, UMAC competed in China.
07:19And then we also have Filipinos who competed in SEA Games.
07:25And then in WFQC.
07:35So you said that we have a chance,
07:37there is a high possibility that the Philippines will excel in this sport.
07:42But Ms. Daniels or Joel,
07:44what do you think, should this be included in the UAP as one of the events?
07:51For me, if it can give focus, it can.
07:56And especially if it can be introduced to big universities,
08:02because it already exists in UMAC.
08:05Floorball has already been introduced in Ateneo.
08:11So maybe it can be included in the UAP.
08:18Okay, now this is your chance to invite.
08:22If you have a message to all those interested in floorball,
08:26where can they practice or where can they watch?
08:30And of course, if you have upcoming events, you can also invite.
08:36Okay everyone, hello to all of you.
08:40For those who are interested in playing floorball,
08:44you can message the Philippine Floorball Association on their FB page.
08:51And we have teams, we can message them.
08:55Amoranto, QC Floorball Club, United South Floorball Club,
09:01UP Floorball Club, UMAC Floorball Club, and Orcas Factory.
09:06We have teams that you can join.
09:12And actually, we also have teams in Cebu.
09:17We have coaches there that you can message.
09:28Sir Joel?
09:29You can invite us to the upcoming Floorball Fiesta this December 8th.
09:36Until 7am or 8am.
09:39And then we also have live streams on our FB page,
09:44Philippine Floorball Association.
09:46If you want to watch live, we're just nearby.
09:54Quezon City High School, that's where we play.
09:59And then at De La Salle University, Zobel.
10:05Thank you so much, Daniel and Joel.
