00:00Good evening from West London where it finished, Chelsea 3 Villa 0. Another tough day for Unai Emery's Villa team in a season which is becoming tough or has been tough for this last month, this last month and a half.
00:17Eight games now without a win and if Wednesday's 0-0 draw with Juventus was the most positive result, this felt the lowest day really, the toughest day. Villa well beaten in the end by a Chelsea team who look much improved on the previous two seasons when obviously Villa finished above them twice.
00:42This time around one of these teams look like they're ready to challenge for a top four place this season, sadly it wasn't Villa. Again they conceded early, Nicholas Jackson scoring from across in the seventh minute and then Villa nearly gifted Chelsea two goals before Enzo Fernandes scored a goal of real quality, nine minutes before the break to make it 2-0. Villa battled hard, they huffed, they puffed.
01:06Ollie Watkins should have scored at least one in the first half, John McGinn had a good chance early in the second half but Chelsea just had more conviction, they had more belief and Cole Palmer scored a fantastic goal with seven minutes to go to seal the deal.
01:21Even though Villa were never quite out of the game at 2-0, you never really believed they were going to get back in it and I think that was the biggest problem. They've got problems at both ends of the pitch really, they concede too many goals and they don't score enough, it's the fourth time they haven't scored this season in the Premier League, that only happened five times in the whole of last season.
01:43For the first time really, you look at Unai Emery in the dugout today, we've sat just behind him, it looks like he's lost just a bit of his magic. Unai Emery's the man who had all the answers and at the moment he's kind of scrambling for them, Villa are in a bit of a rut.
01:59The season moves quickly, we've got a game against Brentford on Wednesday and another one against Southampton on Saturday, the perfect opportunity really to bounce back. Two wins in the next six days and this season will feel very different, the table's still very tight but at the minute Villa are in a bit of a pickle.
