Jesse Stafford took over the leadership of this music ensemble after the death of Herb Wiedoeft, a fine trumpet player and band leader who died tragically on May 12, 1928.
Wiedoeft was in a car accident in Medford, Oregon. His car skidded off the Medford-Klamath Falls highway. Before his early death, he led some of the finest West Coast musicians providing dance music in the Roaring 1920s.
After Wiedoeft’s death, the group carried on under the leadership of trombonist Jesse Stafford.
