02:03In the opening number, No One Mourns the Wicked, Glinda tries to garner some compassion for

02:22Both on stage and in the movie, the identity of this mystery lover remains a secret, though
02:27his green elixir likely explains why Elphaba was born green.

02:54What happened to Dr. Dillamond?
03:02The last time we saw Shiz's history professor, he was warning his students while being dragged
03:07from his classroom.
03:08Before that, we saw his efforts to raise awareness about the plight of animals and meeting with
03:13colleagues to discuss the something bad happening across Oz.
03:21After he's replaced, the students are shown how the regime plans to use cages to strip
03:25animals of their equality.
03:27In Act 2, Elphaba returns to the Emerald City to free the flying monkeys, but the wizard
03:32intervenes and tries to convince her they'd still make a wonderful team.
03:55She's almost swayed until she finds her old professor, whose condition makes her even
03:59more adamant to take down the wizard.

04:07Will there be any new songs?
04:15Part 1 featured some lyric changes and a new section in one short day, but the soundtrack
04:20largely remained the same as fans know it.
04:34Composer Stephen Schwartz wrote new songs for Part 1, but they were ultimately deemed
04:38unnecessary.
04:39However, he confirmed that Part 2 will include two new songs, which he felt were quote, dramatically
04:45necessary.
05:01Director Jon M. Chu clarified that these songs will likely be added to the existing soundtrack,
05:05as he doesn't plan to cut any of the original score.
05:09That said, he noted the importance of pacing in staying true to quote, the sanctity of
05:13the show.
05:14Meaning, some songs might have updated lyrics or be rearranged to better fit the story.

05:28If before watching Part 1, all you knew of these characters was from The Wizard of Oz,
05:32you might be thinking, oh no, I don't want Elphaba to melt.
05:36But yes, that iconic moment had to make its way into the show.
05:39Only this time, it's more bittersweet.
05:42For that, Elphaba has Dorothy captive.
05:44Glinda shows up to warn her of trouble ahead and tries to convince her to free the girl.
05:48After Elphaba gets a mysterious letter, she urges Glinda to back off to protect herself.
05:53They say goodbye, for good, and Glinda watches her friend melt.
05:57As for The Wizard, Elphaba might not be the one who stops him, but let's just say it's
06:02no coincidence he's so eager to escort Dorothy home.

06:13How does Glinda become Glinda the Good?
06:18In Part 1, Glinda dreams of becoming a sorceress, but Madame Morrible has little faith in her
06:24and doesn't seem to like her much either.
06:37She only agrees to mentor Glinda at Elphaba's request.
06:40By the end of Part 1, though, she seemingly changes her tune, comforting Glinda as Elphaba
06:45flies away.
06:46In Part 2, we discover that this was all part of her plan to win Glinda over.
07:00Saying thank goodness, she fabricates a story about how Glinda reached her position.
07:13Glinda knows she doesn't deserve it, but remains silent in the face of injustice and

07:18While she starts Part 2 as Glinda the Good, her story is about truly earning that title.

07:25How does the Elphaba, Fiyero, and Glinda love triangle develop?
07:42When Fiyero first shows up at Shiz, he and Glinda seem like the perfect couple.
07:46But as he gets to know Elphaba, he starts seeing the world differently and is straw-struck

08:05Anyway, Elphaba feels the spark too, but he's dating her bestie, so, you know, awkward.
08:28When he comes to see Elphaba off to the Emerald City, even Glinda senses their chemistry.

08:38slide and makes it his mission to find her.
08:41Our hearts soared when they reunited, but we ached for Glinda as she realizes she's
08:45not that girl.

08:54How does Nessaros become the Wicked Witch of the East?
09:01How does sweet, unassuming Nessaros become the tyrannical leader of Munchkinland?
09:06Much of this is explored in the song Wicked Witch of the East, which was omitted from
09:09the soundtrack for being too content-heavy.
09:12We learn that Nessa is resentful of Elphaba for not using her magic to help her.
09:16Elphaba does find a way, enchanting her shoes, which explains why she's so obsessed with
09:21getting them back from Dorothy later.
09:36Meanwhile, Nessa realizes Bok's heart isn't tin in their relationship, so she abuses her
09:42power to force him to stay.
09:43Yet when he decides to pursue Glinda, Nessa tries to cast a love spell, but the results
09:48aren't exactly what she had in mind.

09:57Do Elphaba and Glinda ever reunite?
10:08Yes they do, but not under the best circumstances.
10:11Glinda's fiancé leaves her for Elphaba, and her retaliation is unintentionally crushing.
