The Communications Ministry has activated its Flood Relief Fund to provide immediate assistance to ministry personnel affected by the disaster.

Its Minister Fahmi Fadzil, who attended a carnival in Kuala Lumpur on Nov 30, said the activation of the fund, established in 2022, is intended to ease the burden of 54 ministry staff identified as impacted by the ongoing floods.

00:00Yes, in 2022, a disaster relief fund has been established.
00:07And I understand that so far, the amount that has been collected,
00:12the value is there, and God willing, the disaster will be eradicated.
00:17We will use this fund to provide assistance to affected families.
00:24I have also asked the authorities to investigate 13 affected residents due to flooding.
00:31And we will also try to provide assistance through the disaster relief fund.
00:36And God willing, I will discuss with the MCMC and the Ministry of Environment
00:44to send a civil community team from unaffected or neighboring countries
00:52to help in the cleanup efforts after the flood.
00:59And the MCMC will also provide a number of assistance that they will announce later.
01:06What are your plans to help the affected?
01:08Yes, we are investigating.
01:10Now I am getting information on the number of affected towers.
01:15As I mentioned earlier, there are 124 towers and 47 dams that are still inoperative.
01:24And in addition to these facilities, I have asked the MCMC to immediately
01:32update the status of the internet on all PPS.
01:37So far, as stated on the NADMA website, 679 PPS are active.
01:45So I have asked the MCMC to monitor the connectivity at 679 PPS.
01:55God willing, in the near future, either in the cleanup process or earlier than that,
