00:00Good morning, I'm Councillor Peter Hughes and I'm the Cabinet Member for Regeneration
00:05and Infrastructure at Samwell Council. I'm really excited today actually, we're doing
00:12some community consultation on the brand new Eco Park. It's part of the wider development
00:19where we're going to have a new school and also a small housing development. Initially
00:29there was some concern shown from the local people in relation to this development but I
00:36hope that we're starting to take them with us. Exactly what we want today is residents actually,
00:46whether young or old, to actually input into the design of what's going to be the first
00:52new park built by Samwell in its history. We don't want your typical park that you would find
01:00anywhere in the borough, we want it to be a park that actually features wildlife, biodiversity
01:09and the whole idea of this area is that's what we want to bring to Brandoor, actually maintain some
01:16of the natural habitat that people actually said that they wanted to retain and in fact we want to
01:23enhance that and make it more accessible for local people to use, whether they're young or disabled.
01:30At the moment it's not an accessible space, it's a former golf course and we want to see it
01:38as a new effective urban village which actually brings everything about climate change,
01:50about biodiversity, enhancing species that are there, dealing with some of the difficulties
02:00that there are there in relation to proximity to the motorway. We want to try and address all of
02:06these problems and also consult with people and bring what's best to this area.
