South Yorkshire police statement after 3 killers were sentenced for the murder of Sacad Ali

00:00I'm Detective Chief Inspector Ben Wood and I'm the Senior Investigating Officer in this case.

00:05Today Rebecca Moore, Barney Griffin and Jack Douglas have been sentenced at Sheffield Crown

00:11Court for the murder of 24-year-old Saqqad Ali. Saqqad was fatally stabbed in Ponderosa Park in

00:18Sheffield earlier this year. I know that today's sentencing won't bring Saqqad back but I hope it

00:25gives his family, friends, loved ones and everybody who knew him some sort of closure

00:32as they try to rebuild their lives and recover from the grief inflicted upon them.

00:38I would like to take this opportunity to read out the following statement on behalf of Saqqad's

00:42family. Saqqad was a loving son and brother who was loved by all his family. He was the heart of

00:50our family and he was always happy and smiling. All those who knew Saqqad knew how positive

00:57and happy he was. It feels like all the light out of our lives has been taken. Our lives have

01:05been completely broken by what has happened and we will never be able to forget. We would like

01:11to thank everyone who helped Saqqad and who came forward to assist the police. We would also like

01:17to thank DCI Ben Wood, DC Lisa Glover, DC Karen Edge and all the officers who have been involved

01:24in the investigation. Thank you.
