00:00Have you experienced being a victim of online threats?
00:03Do you feel like you're losing your security after receiving online threats?
00:09Or maybe, in the middle of a heated discussion, you were picked on and you let go of your guard against a person?
00:16Do you know that you can be sued and reprimanded even if you have no intention of fulfilling your promise?
00:23In the digital age, it's important to know the importance of giving online threats
00:29and how to protect ourselves if we become victims of online threats.
00:34That's what we're going to talk about here on MIL-101.
00:41Let's talk about an online or social media activity
00:45that most of us are aware of,
00:47that can lead to punishment.
00:50That is online threats.
00:52What are online threats?
00:54These are threats or intimidation that are done through the internet,
01:00usually through social media, chat, platforms, or email.
01:04These can be direct threats to life or property
01:08or intimidation to be ashamed,
01:11to lose your reputation,
01:13or to instill fear in other people.
01:16Who is often affected by this?
01:19All of us can become victims of online threats.
01:23Young, old, or even influencers
01:26and well-known personalities.
01:28Many people experience anxiety,
01:31fear, and lack of trust in others
01:34because of this kind of threat.
01:36How does this happen?
01:38This can happen because
01:40it's the result of heated online discussions
01:43or the result of personal anger or jealousy.
01:48Sometimes, it also comes from a prank
01:51or a joke that is out of place.
01:54Well, what are the possible punishments
01:57for online threats?
01:59Did you know that even a simple online threat,
02:02even a joke or a prank,
02:04can have serious consequences?
02:07According to our law,
02:09engraved threats can lead to imprisonment and fine.
02:14This is included in our revised penal code
02:17and other cybercrime laws.
02:19So, it's important to remember
02:21that every word we say online
02:23has an inherent responsibility.
02:27What should we do if we are a victim of an online threat?
02:30Well, take a screenshot of the evidence.
02:33Take a clear screenshot of the evidence
02:36for a possible investigation.
02:38We should also report and block the account.
02:41Report the threat on the platform
02:43and immediately block the sender
02:46to avoid further communication.
02:49Third, contact the authorities.
02:52If the threat is serious,
02:54immediately ask for help from the police
02:56or the NBI Cybercrime Division.
02:58Fourth, strengthen the account security.
03:02Change the passwords
03:04and activate the two-factor authentication
03:08for the increased protection
03:10of your account and data.
03:12Ask for support later.
03:14Tell your family and friends
03:16about the incident
03:18and take care of your mental health.
03:20What if you are the one
03:22who caused the threat?
03:24We are all humans
03:26and sometimes we get emotional.
03:28But it's important to be responsible.
03:30If you caused a threat,
03:32immediately take it down.
03:34Apologize and make sure
03:36it won't happen again.
03:38Remember that the internet
03:40is a space of connection and information.
03:43Respect others.
03:45Let's not use fear
03:47and anger as an excuse
03:49for social media.
03:51Instead, let's make the online world
03:53safe for everyone.
03:55That's all for now
03:57on MIL-101.
