From his Lapland town of Rovaniemi, Santa Claus is preparing for Christmas. But after Finland's hottest summer, there is not a snowflake in sight. "We can see that the climate change is true," he laments while sitting on an armchair. "And it's affecting the reindeer. It's affecting the life here in the Arctic."
In the touristic Santa Claus Village, visitors brave the rain to get a glimpse of the magic.

00:00How are you?
00:02How are you?
00:04Good to see you.
00:06Four.
00:08Two.
00:10Two?
00:20Of course, my reindeer, they can fly, so that's no problem.
00:24But it's so much nicer when everything is covered with the snow,
00:27and it really gives you the Christmas feeling.
00:44I figured it would be much more snowy.
00:46I mean, it still feels like Christmas, just because it's everywhere,
00:48but I figured it would be a little bit more Santa-like, if that makes sense.
00:55It's just nice to see the kids, they're super excited,
00:57so that's kind of pretty cool to see as well.
00:59It can be.
01:12It can be.
01:30But as we don't know yet how it's going to affect that,
01:34one prediction is that we're going to get more snow.
01:36It will arrive later.
01:38We will get more, and it will stay longer.
01:40But we'll see, we'll see.
01:42But last year, this time, we had this much.
01:44Actually, talking this morning with my elves,
01:47that last year, the same day, we had minus 12,
01:50and we had this much snow.
01:52So it's a different year.
02:00I don't know.
02:02It must have all been covered up.
