00:15Turkey takes a long time to cook and it must be done properly.
00:19The first step is to thaw it.
00:21Do not thaw your turkey at room temperature or in hot water.
00:26According to the CDC, the outer layer becomes susceptible to bacteria in temperatures between
00:3140 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit.
00:35The turkey must be thawed in a refrigerator or under cold water.
00:40The fridge is the easiest method, but the longest.
00:43It takes about a day for every four pounds to thaw in the fridge.
00:48And if you don't have that time available to you, you can also do our cold water thaw,
00:52which is a rapid thaw method.
00:55Keep the frozen turkey in its original wrapper and place it breast side up in a container
01:00to prevent juices from contaminating other foods.
01:03The FDA advises to set the fridge below 40 degrees Fahrenheit.
