00:17Good morning. The plan to put the power lines in the underground was approved by the residents I talked to to avoid the so-called spaghetti wires or the wires in the floor.

00:31Not only the power lines, but also the telecommunication cables and the water lines will be connected to this part of Barangay Damayang Lagi in Quezon City.

00:40From the outside to the corners, the cables are connected to the outside. There are also PVC pipes.

00:48Usually, the residents say that the spaghetti wires were also approved. They say that they are in charge whenever there's a spark in the cables.

00:55Of course, it's scary for people to die because they panic and scream in the corners.

01:02When the power lines are on, it's bad. You won't be able to walk because the power lines are on.

01:10I'm nervous, but we've been here for a long time. We already know the emergency hotline of Barangay, of Meralco.

01:18My suggestion is to put proper power lines and cables.

01:28Manila Electric Company of Meralco said in a hearing of the Senate Committee on Public Services that they are considering relocating the power lines to the underground.

01:37They say it's not just to avoid the spaghetti wires, but also to be prepared whenever there's a storm.

01:42Actually, in our budget for the next five years, we will include a large capex to lower our line from overhead to underground.

01:53It's not just to address the spaghetti wires, but also for the storm hardening and storm resiliency.

02:01This is approved by some of the residents we've talked to, but they still have doubts.

02:06If we're talking about safety, it's better because safety is very important.

02:13If they will do it safely, why not? But I don't know if it's okay.

02:22Because it's flooded here. They can't tell us 100 percent that it won't move.

02:34Metro Manila Council and local governments were the first to pass an ordinance against the cables and spaghetti wires.
