00:00The House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability allowed the furlough or temporary release of four members of the Office of the Vice President who are being contempted.
00:11Next is their view on the hearing of the committee on the confidential funds of the OVP and Department of Education.
00:18According to Committee Chairperson Congressman Joel Chua, the committee believes that the four employees of the OVP will be brought back to the hearing.
00:27OVP Special Disbursing Officer Gene Acosta was brought to the Veterans Memorial Medical Center after the hearing.
00:36Here, Acosta appointed Colonel La Chica who distributed the 125 million pesos of confidential funds of the OVP.
00:47Colonel Dennis Nolasco was appointed to distribute the 112 million pesos of confidential funds of the OVP.
00:54According to the OVP Special Disbursement Officer Edward Pajarda, Pajarda and Acosta said that they don't know who was given the money from the confidential funds.
01:06When asked by the Vice President about this, he said he will just wait for Nolasco to appear at the hearing.
01:14That's why there's a law that prohibits the discussion of confidential funds.
01:19We've been saying this repeatedly in the House of Representatives. We will wait for Colonel Nolasco.
01:27In his statement at the hearing, former DepEd Assistant Secretary Atty. Sunshine Pajarda
01:33responded to the allegations of giving bribe or extra money to some DepEd officials.
01:39This was done by Lemuel Ortonio, Assistant Chief of Staff of the OVP,
01:43who has knowledge of the acknowledgment receipts submitted by the OVP for liquidation.
01:49Edward Pajarda was also asked about the rumored text messages where he asked the bank detail of some DepEd officials.
01:58He explained that he ordered the Vice President to give money to regional directors and division superintendents
02:05so that they will not use their own money as expenses for their studies.
