00:00She thought that we were in a kind of a relationship
00:04and that I was the father of her child
00:07and she was yelling these things through my building
00:09and it became an issue.
00:10When you get used to this life,
00:11when you get used to the acclaim,
00:13it's a high, it's a great feeling.
00:17I don't even want to think of a life without it.
00:19Hi, this is Imran Hashmi and you're watching me on Brute.
00:33Hi Imran, thank you for speaking with Brute.
00:35Pleasure.
00:36Did you have any moments of self-doubt or insecurities
00:40at any point in these 20 years?
00:42Of course, I think you're part of this business.
00:45There are going to be lots of moments where you're going to be insecure.
00:47You're going to be insecure for your future here.
00:51That feeling of one day, how will I deal with anonymity?
00:56When you get used to this life,
00:58when you get used to the acclaim,
01:00the fame, the fandom of the love,
01:06it's a high, it's a great feeling.
01:09I don't even want to think of a life without it.
01:12Or even for that matter,
01:13even just being in films,
01:15the process of filmmaking.
01:18That's been a passion.
01:19It's been a passion for a very long time.
01:21I don't know how that will mold my identity if I stop acting.
01:26Those are the fears.
01:27But it's not like this dark cloud and I roam around with this constant fear.
01:32These are fleeting thoughts that erupt sometimes.
01:37And then you're like, calm yourself down.
01:39You can't get too wayward by those things.
01:44So you mentioned that one of the fears that's crossed your mind is,
01:50what if I'm no longer...
01:52What if the stardom sort of fades away?
01:55What then?
01:57Have you thought about what is going to happen then?
01:58There's no plan B for me.
02:00There's no family business.
02:02There's nothing.
02:04I've been very...
02:05I feel I've been very, very blessed
02:08to have garnered the kind of acclaim and successes in so many years.
02:13And it's not about the money.
02:15By the blessing of God, I've made money to support my family.
02:19But it is not just about money anymore.
02:23It's about the identity you draw from your profession.
02:27It is that feeling of getting up in the morning
02:30and contributing and entertaining people.
02:32Of making fans happy.
02:34Of working on a character.
02:35Of going through a script and breathing life into a certain character.
02:38That process.
02:40I don't want to be in a time in my life
02:42where I don't get the opportunity to do that.
02:44I think that's where the insecurity comes from.
02:47On a lighter note, what's been your most bizarre fan moment?
02:51I'm sure you've had a few.
02:52Oh, I have had a couple of them.
02:55Well, all of them actually.
02:56Some that cannot be shared on camera.
02:59There was this lady once who had come below my house.
03:02And she actually started...
03:04She was, I guess, in some way delusional about...
03:09She thought that we were in a kind of a relationship.
03:14And that it was bizarre because she said that she was...
03:19She was a mother...
03:20I was the father of her child.
03:22And she was yelling these things below my building.
03:24And it became an issue.
03:26The cops had to come and whisk her away.
03:28But she...
03:29I don't know.
03:29She was just very delusional about something.
03:33And she was very violent.
03:35And this was way back.
03:36This was way back in 2013 or 2014.
03:39Talk to me about what drew you to Showtime.
03:42What made you say yes to the project?
03:44I think the truth's about our industry.
03:46And said in a very entertaining way.
03:48I think that was something that drew me to it.
03:50Rahul Khanna's character really, really resonated with me.
